Sub... Is there any way of associating another operation with Live TV as WELL as it's obvious current one?...? If not... what language is GB-PVR in? I could write a few lines of code to insert into the Live TV onClick or whatever it is, that would tell it to call a batch file only if it exists, thus meaning the code would have no effect should the file not exist and not change GB-PVR in any way.

Why, what are you trying to do.

Well, I am considering writing a plugin (maybe just add it to the jukebox plugin) to support music visualisations. I'm looking for a workaround for X-Card users to allow full colour on the menu system. If I could have some batch file associated with it, or even better, a line of code that tries to open a file which name is set in the registry which means any file type can be opened.
My workaround system is as follows:
There is a cheap switch box for Scart which the user plugs both X-Card out and graphics card TV-OUT into, with the TV-OUT in a higher priority position (a very good one of these for three Scart inputs costs £20). The menu system is shown via TV-OUT ok, but what is needed is a way to cancel that signal so the box switches to the X-Card when live TV or DVD is selected. This could be done by sending the right signal to the graphics card to stop the output from the TV-OUT and start again when the menu comes back.
Another method I might explore is mapping out the WHOLE of GB-PVR in Girder... but this leaves it rather unflexible for additions.
All I need is the freedom of having a file being called when live TV is being called and another when it exits back to menu, and the same to happen for the DVD. I can figure out all the rest (i.e. what exactly the file is and what it contains) in my own time!
Cheers!

Yuck...

You could write an event notification plugin to get this notification, then do whatever you need to do. See the third post in http://gbpvr.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=4;t=62

lol
I thought it was a bit yuck too.. I'd seen event notification in the sticky in the developers section, but I wasn't sure you could get events such as Live TV being called or DVD or exited for that matter, but if you can then that's free and 100 times better... How would these events be informed?
I haven't programmed since July's vow of programming cellibacy after my second year CSAI exams. Better start getting back into the swing of it now final year starts!

Yes, it should get notification of live tv or DVD. These are all just video track names. If you find its not correctly notifying of all events, let me know and I'll amend..

Joshley, what graphics card do you have?

I thought about this when i was using Girder because i use an auto SCART switch box (Maplin if in the UK) that switches to one of three channels when it recieves a signal there (i have to cos i cant watch DVD's through PVR-350 so use a dvd player) and also have TV-out from an ATI 9200 going to this too.

ATI control centre allows you to use hot keys to toggle between displays (monitor and TV) i thought i should be able to set this up whilst a monitor was connected and use girder to map one spare button on my hauppage remote to simulate the hot key to switch between TV and monitor (not connected afterwards).

I got this far but since i dont really need to see the desktop didnt think it worth testing out.

might be useful, might be useless but i thought id mention it just in case.

Cheers stu8080, spot on - this is pretty much what I'll be trying to do. I'm using a GeForce FX5200, but it has a similar, but slightly more awkward method for 'switching' between displays. I need to find a way of calling that function from within some C# code, which is the tricky part...! It should be interesting finding out how, hopefully it's just a service somewhere that can be started and stopped, which would be fantastic!
