I'm probably just overloading my machine, but I recently enabled the Comskip options after upgrading to GBPVR v0.94.13. Everything worked great -- excellent success rate at marking the commercials and such. However, this was also the first time that I encountered choppy video where about 5-10 seconds of video seems to be playing at a faster speed. This was on 5 different shows on three different channels and the choppy stuff showed up seemingly at random throughout the entire 7-hour recording period. .

Now, admittedly, I'm running a P4/1.8ghz, 512mb RAM, one 160GB hard drive (internal and another 200gb external as needed), a PVR150 and a PVR500 (so a total of three tuners). In my recording schedule (especially this day I'm talking about above), all three tuner cards could be recording at the same time. I did notice that with three instances of Comskip running, my CPU is bogged down quite a bit more than usual, even with three cards recording at the same time. Am I probably just overloading my system with this type of recording pattern + the additional burden of Comskip? Is there a better way for me to use the Comskip function that won't result in the video problem?

Have you configured it to run during the recording, or after the recording?

Sorry -- left that important bit of information out. I have it set to run during the recording.

I take it that after is probably better than during. If I set it to run after, does it run immediately after or can a time be set for it to run? Otherwise, if it occurs immediately after, it could still affect the video in the next recording(s), right?

'after' will run them one at a time, with no more than one copy of comskip running at a time. I suspect you machine will cope much better with this.

Sounds like that will be the new plan! Thanks, Sub!

Also with several recordings happening at once, they will be inherantly fragmented, almost interleaved...
Something else to look into.
3x MVPs (not used anymore)
XBMC
Hauppauge 150 via SVideo
Comcast Digital Cable
Motorola HD Cable box channel changed via Firewire
Vista Home Premium with RDP hack
AMD Athalon 64 5000+
340gig sata, plus 80SATA+3x160IDE Drives in XP machine for storage.
