Yeah. According to the Wiki link I need to right click the NextPVR executable in the Windows "Program Files" folder (where it is installed) So here is what that right click ontext menu looks like. Don't think there is any Video Codec related item in that list ??
You run NextPVR, then right click on the window to get the context menu and Settings.

I've installed the FULL LAV page many times ... which was for BOTH the 32 and 64 bit versions. The last couple days the 3 most recent install attempts I tried selecting ONLY the 32 bit set of options. In every case according to windows and NextPVR the codecs were properly installed. In every case IN REALITY (as far as I can tell".. they are NOT actually installed and NOT operational but are listed properly everywhere in both windows and Nextpvr related areas as being installed here on this PC.
Hold on .. I've just found another "issue"
I JUST happened to be checking the NextPVR settings page again and was looking at the "Decoder" Screen. 1 browsed up to the "Media folders" screen and decided to add another folder there. Guess what? That WHOLE screen optioning is also STUCK. I can add a new folder to the Video folder list and the next time I open the Settings page (in the NextPVR.exe settings page .... it has reverted back to just the original settings
Are those "settings" screens that come up in the NextPVR.exe supposed to be editable and work like those same version 4 options? Cuz they don't work at all here.
In the EXE UI I never bothered to check it's Music, Videos, and Pictures folders and I now see they all have a full listing of ALL the folders on the root of Windows C: drive.
And I have the same problem with all of them that I can not edit them and make the edits stick. All of those folders just automatically showed up after the initial NextPVR install. I don't know how or why they are in the sub folder list and are all duplicated in each of the main folders (Music, Videos, and Pictures) This thing is really messed up.
I'm coming to the conclusion that this install of NextPVR version 6 is never gonna work. . It WAS working as a NextPVR version 4 for severeal months until a windows 11 update broke it. I've already re-innstalled NPvR 6 "twice and the LAV codes now a dozen times in the last several days. There seems to be someting major going on with this PC. Yes I've already done extensive malware checks etc and I can not find a single thing wrong with the OS or the few programs I have nstalled. The ONLY ting being affected is NextPVR. And yes I always do a deep scan of all programs before they are installed . I have a backup fulll image of this Win 11 system that was saved before the OS was upgraded to version 22H2 (and was running with NextPVR 4) I'm thinking of blowing away this whole system and going "back to the future" all the way to Windows 10.

You're hitting the 'Save' button right? See screenshot. I say this because we've had a small number of people in the past with a screen that was scaled strangely in Windows, hiding the Save button. (this is not a v6 specific problem, and happened in v4 too.)

Honestly, I don't see any reason for that to be the case. v6 is a much better application that v4 ever was. Pretty much everyone has moved to v6, and we're not getting this same problems from any others.

You run NextPVR, then right click on the window to get the context menu and Settings.
That is how I've been generating the screen caps I've been posting. Been doing that the last couple weeks. My work flow:
C:\Program Files\NextPVR\client\NextPVR.exe (file location) I Run the executable (several times as user with admin priv. and as a logged in Win Administrator.
Then right click anywhere on the programs GUI screen.
That brings up the NextPVR "Settings" main display.
Then drill to "Codecs".
Where I change the "H.264 Video" from Microsoft DTV DVD Video Decoder to LAV
Then close the app and restart the PC and revisit the "Settings" screen again and it changed from LAV back to the MS DTV thing again.
1I also just found that NONE of any of my edits to ANY filelds in any "Settings" sub folders work. I can edit any of their options ( Gemeral, Mediia Folders, Decoders, and Devices & Channels, and the next time I access the "Settings" they are all changed back to what I see. NOTE what I SEE are NOT the original settings but rather ALL of the CODEC settings have already been changed to LAV. Except only two, (the H.264 video and the ACC Audio codec which are both still at their origninal values. So I must have succeeded in changing all but those 2 at an early time. I suspect they were changed prior to the Win 11 Update and are now frozen.
Actually they ALL can be "toggled" normally but the toggle is not permanent and it's swtiched back as soon as I close the screen.
An LAV codec is changed to the MS codec and always changes badk to LAV codec. And an MS codec that is changed to LAV will toggle back to it's original MS codec also. That works like that for EVERY field every "Settings" screen.
Do you know of any stand alone utility I can use to actually examine the "installed codecs" in a windows 11 system ? The only thing I have here is the ability to use a Media players "codec info" option to view a running video's codec info. I would love to be able to see what windows has actually got installed and workiing with some kind of external stand alone utility.

So that'll be why your settings aren't being saved then
You might need to temporarily set your desktop DPI to to 100%, reboot, and try again. Hopefully after this you'll be able to see the 'Save' button. To do this, from memory you right click on your desktop, and choose 'Display Settings' from the context menu. Scroll down, set Scale to '100%'. Yours is probably something like 150%.
After you've rebooted, and tweaked these NextPVR settings, you can change back to 150% if you want.
I'm not sure why this happens for a small number of people. I'm running 150% here, and the Settings screen is correctly scaled.
Arrghhhh !! Sub you hit the nail on the head. Got dual monitors there on the HTPC. When dealing with something where I have to a lot of reading or "text", email etc. I use a 19 inch monitor which is easier on my old eyes Everything there is optimize for reading text. . And that "large" image of the NextPVR.exe "settings" was filling the small screen and it's bottom was cut off. The Display I use with wth Nextpvr, is LARGE (32 inches). Been using the smaller display for the NextPVR captures so I could see the text clearly.
I just switched over to the large display and brought up the NPVR "settings" image there, and dropped the screen res down to 1920 x 1080 and HOLY COW .. There's the missing controls on the bottom of the settings image. BTW that "settings" image is a "fixed" res and can not be blown up or down in size so if you have just the "wrong" display res - it could over-fill the display and have the bottom cut of. I feel sooooooo dumb right now. Beers are on me ! <grin> Let me see if I can now get some changes made. The MISSING Control buttons are circled. Geeshhhh I knda feel sorta "stupid". Duh !

In fairness to you, it's an application problem that was stopping you from seeing this.
It's not a fixed resolution. The screen is set to scale, and for most people it does. A small number have had this issue over the last 10+ years though, and I'm not sure of the reason.
I'm running two 27" monitors at 150%, and one 24" monitor at 100%. The scaling works fine on my screens.
