Upgraded to latest NextPVR last night, and woke up this morning to find Windows had crashed.
Restarted system, and then later in the afternoon when watching sport, the picture froze on Kodi client.

I nun my system headless, so tried remoting into the system running NextPVR, and Windows was still running this time, but the NextPVR service has stopped working.
Tried logging into retrieve logs, but cannot login for obvious reasons.

If I can get it working again, will post logs.

Managed to restart the nextpvr service.

Logs attached.

Seems to have crashed when trying to use colossus2 card sometime last night,   and this afternoon when watching the All Blacks vs Ireland Rugby game from DVB-T.
(so does not seem to be related to a particular tuner issue, as does it on both DVB-T and Colossus STB tuners)

Seems to completely take out Windows when the first crash occurred using Colossus, but just took out NextPVR service this afternoon using DVB-T.

As I backup my systems to a server nightly, I can backup my current configuration, and then restore it to a time before I installed the latest NextPVR update.
Can then test and see if anything changes.

Can you see if anything is in the event viewer first?

I didn't get your posting before I restored, but I did backup image first, so can do what you ask by restoring the current backup.
Where would you like me to check?

My system just did something weird again,  was watching live tv on Kodi client and it just exited out.
If I use the web browser and go to my NextPVR host, it is still running, but can not watch any channels, on both the client and the npvr host via NextPVR web interface.

Logs attached from this current event.

Whatever is going on, I can not blame new NextPVR, as am running the last version 6 NextPVR.
Also can not blame Windows 11, as my backup is running 23H2.

Have changed some things in last few weeks, primarily running NextPVR under Windows VM again. (Although been doing that for a few weeks without issue)
Also updated the Windows 11 to 24H2.  (although as my system is still doing weird things under 23H2, that likely is not the issue.)

Also I got a new HBA controller card for my NAS, tho don't think thats is really causing any issues, as have been using that for some weeks without issue, and it seems much faster than the mobo's native SATA ports.

Main change was going from bare metal back to Virtual Windows machine.
My original machine seems to have gone really show all of a sudden, everything still worked. but in kodi , if I say selected a show to record from guide,  it would take like 2 minutes for the record icon to appear.

So, what I am saying is that the behavior's I reported may have nothing at all to do with the new NextPVR.
(tho this did just start happening)

..Dean..

You don't use it often but your DVB tuner 2 is not locking a signal if that helps.

2024-11-09 19:17:39.730 [DEBUG][4] locked=0, present=0, strength=0, quality=137 (took 15ms to check)

Perhaps you need to empty tuner 2 with the trash can close and repoen and copy in the tuner 1 details.

Thanks for that,  yes discovered that one of my DVB-T tuners was not working by looking at device manager, as one was not there.
(seems to be a quirk of using USB Tuners, and sometimes one does not always co9me back after a reboot, but needs complete power cycle.)

Am currently trying to resurrect my original bare metal server.   I tried to install again using the setup exe, but must have used an older version, as it installed NextPVR V5 over v6 install, and now cannot get the nextpve service to work at all.
Pretty sure I have a working drive image for that machine tho, so will re-image and see what happens.
Discovered that one DVB-T card on that machine does not work either, so maybe that was causing my super slowdown in Kodi I mentioned?.

Running virtual has it's advantages, but is very complex.
Don't know why, but my Hauppauge Colossus1 card will not passthru in my new machine using Proxmox.
If I install normal Windows on it, the card works.... but if I install Proxmox on the same machine, the card does not work.
(so annoying)

So, back to bare metal!.

The installer will use NPVR.zip from the folder if it exists rather than going online.

Update:

I now have my original bare metal NextPVR machine back up and running.
Discovered that one of the memory modules has seemingly gone bad, which caused the drive imaging software I used to backup the machine, to fail when reloading backups.

Also found that one of the tuner cards was indeed not working, or even recognized by the computer at all.
I placed that tuner card in another PC, and it recognized it.  I then put it back in the NextPVR computer, and it too was recognized once more, so that's kind of weird.
(thought perhaps a crash due to bad memory module might have freaked something out on the tuner card, or the mobo's CMOS)

When I pulled the offending memory module, the imaging software worked correctly again, and I was able to restore the system back to an original fresh install of Windows and NextPVR V6.
After applying all the Windows updates, and upgrading NextPVR to current version,  the system seems to function well with no crashes thus far, and the weird Kodi  issues I was encountering seem to have disappeared as well.

Mission accomplished.

Thankyou Martin for the insights gleamed from inspecting the logs I posted.
I am once again appreciative of your analytical prowess.

NP thanks for posting the logs, it is our only insight into what is happening, and best in the first instance without prompting. This is a .0 release but it is still reasonably stable (6.1.5 does have its own issues.
