Installed NPVR on Ubuntu 22.04 recently as per these instructions recently. Everything was working fine.

curl https://nextpvr.com/nextpvr-helper.deb -O
sudo apt install ./nextpvr-helper.deb --install-recommends

Noticed an update available and used these instructions. Now I'm getting "Failed to start requested stream

sudo dpkg -i nextpvr-helper.deb

Seems you accidentally enabled VAAPI it doesn't seem to work on you computer

2023-05-03 22:25:56.813 [DEBUG][32] [FFMPEG]: Failed to set value '/dev/dri/renderD128' for option 'vaapi_device': Invalid argument

Steaming to Kodi looked ok, but you didn't send Kodi debug logs.

That did the trick.Thanks. Somehow VAAPI became enabled during the upgrade process.

I didn't realise NPVR could run under Linux. I've been using TVHeadend for years but unfortunately that project seems to have died off. Very little activity these days. It is useful for generating EPG xml files so I'll leave it active and feeding info to NPVR.

Now that I'm running NPVR I'll have loads of questions to follow. One general question. Is there any plans to migrate NPVR to Net Core

It is already netcore 6. Do you mean NextPVR.exe? It would be impossible, but the multi platform versions with the same UI are called UI clients.

You might not need TVHeadend, NextPVR has OTA EPG support and the latest version NextPVR can generate an XMLTV file for donators. The export has a bug that sub has already fixed so patch should be out soon.

I’m back to NPVR again and trying to figure out how to get the Freesat EPG option to display any EPG. I’m on Astra 28.2 and I ran the device scan for channels. Channels all found so in the channel section on auto map I choose Freesat EPG and then go to update EPG and nothing added. There is no sign of any EPG. There’s no problem adding an xml epg file to supply 7 day epg but what exactly does the Freesat EPG actually and how do you configure it to do something.

Sub would have to let us know if Freesat is available outside Windows, I don't recall any posts on that.

I thought that might be the case. I tried various configuration options but absolutely no epg data appeared. I added the xml epg file I harvested from TVHeadend and I had a 7 day epg. In order to generate that file I ran a scan of transponder 11778 V in TVHeadend which automatically populated my channel list in TVHeadend. Do you think this could be achieved in Next PVR.

You didn't upload your zipped NextPVR logs so we don't know what NextPVR is doing on Linux. That 11778 scan does happen on Windows.

I’ll do that tomorrow. In the meantime what is the procedure for scanning EPG in NextPVR. I do a channel scan, it then asks me if I want to update EPG. At that point it gives me an option of DVB/ATSC EPG or Freesat EPG. I select Freesat EPG and nothing added. It’s slightly confusing. I’m willing to help with this function in Linux so as I said I’ll update logs tomorrow.

As I wrote you need to wait for sub, not sure how Freesat works on Linux.
