Failed Recording

Hi,  I have NextPVR running on my Windows PC and it normally works very well.  Last night I had a "failed recording" and it was my Wife's favourite programme so I was in the dog box!  

Any chance of some help to avoid this problem in the future?  

The recording which failed was the Great British Bake Off and was scheduled to start recording at 19:57 on Tuesday 28th November.  I have attached the log files which I have just captured.

I am a real novice but I did spot something in the nrecord.log.1 file which might be relevant:

2023-11-28 19:57:27.873 [ERROR][46] IsComplete(): Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Similar entries repeat ~30 times.  However, I have no idea if this is relevant, what it means or if I can fix it!   so apologies if this is a red herring.

In 6.1.5 that IsComplete message seems to be related to no data at the start which causes the thumbnails to stop being generated.

It did lock a signal but the quality seems poor (although I can't trust that)

2023-11-28 19:57:15.263 [DEBUG][4] locked=1, present=1, strength=83, quality=49 (took 31ms to check)

However things and continued and you tuner didn't deliver any data.

2023-11-28 21:25:00.120 [DEBUG][10] No errors, but no data delivered

If that channel works for Live TV today other than you ensuring the antenna's signal is not too weak or too strong there is nothing the software can do.

NextPVR did automatically reschedule it for tomorrow.

Hi Martin,

thanks for the speedy and helpful reply. I will check out the various ariel connections and make sure they are well made and clean, and check the reception too.

It has previously recorded 9 episodes of the same programme, just a little more tension when it didn't record episode 10 which was the final!

Hi,

I have looked at the hardware in my PC and found the twin tuner TBS 6280 will only find channels on one tuner when I do a full scan. The second tuner doesn't find any channels. I think this is the cause of the "failed recording" problem in that NextPVR was trying to record from a faulty tuner card. This would fit with Martin's advice from reviewing the logs.

Thanks again for your help, you have pointed me in the right direction and saved me lots of time.

I've been using NextPVR for some time now, so think a donation overdue, its on its way!
