zap2it xmltv different than listing

I wonder if anyone has a solution to this (minor) problem. I use zap2it and run a batch file to update my xmltv.xml file which is used to update my EPG in nvpr. But sometimes, the epg comes up not the same as what appears in the zap2it listing. See the pics.

This time it appears like there is a special program (in this case the Jan. 6 investigation on PBS), which is changed from the daily default. The listing shows the change, but the data downloaded into xmltv does not. I can't use the "record series" because I don't know how the next episode of the program will show up next time, or even if it's the same day and time. It's so terribly inconvenient, that I may not record other episodes at all.

Likewise, in the case of other movies I want to record, occasionally the listing will show the title of the movie and the time, but the EPG just shows "movie" at standard times. Occasionally I also lose a movie because it actually starts earlier than the standard "movie" time (like losing the first 30 min. of it). So whenever the EPG shows up as "movie," I have to record 3 movies in succession just to make sure I get the whole thing.

So, the bottom line question is this: does anyone have a solution for this difference between the zap2it listing and the downloaded xmltv data?

I do see this issue with the SD JSON service for all PBS so I opened a ticket with SD. I suspect your issue is the zap2xml cache since you are just scraping the same web site.

I see the issue with other channels, not just PBS. It doesn't happen all the time, maybe a dozen times in the past 2 years, which is the reason I haven't addressed it before.

i have a similar situation. It happens on WGN  (9.1) here. Almost every other channel works fine. Always seems to be this channel and particularly the show "Friends". It will not show the episode information. It only shows the generic concept of the show. This in turns records a generic episode and I have no idea what it is. I can't figure out how to fix this. I switched from Zap2xml to Mc2xml and that worked for a while but now it has started again. see the screenshot.

For zap2xml using the "no cache" switches may help -

-n <#> # of no-cache days (from end) (default = 0)
-N <#> # of no-cache-days (from start) (default = 0)
-B <#> single no cache day

I usually run "-N 2" to clear the next 2 days cache. My particular issue is/was sporting events that start out with unknown teams and ultimately they change the listing to include the teams. Not sure if that will help your issue, but worth a shot.
