I am wondering if you are missing a 1 at the end in NextPVR settings?

The problem was that the drive wasn't mounting at startup. When the drive wasn't mounted NPVR created a path and folder on the boot drive. The Linux partition on that drive(an ssd)  is only 90GB.

You answered your question here https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...#pid587976 you should not have given nextpvr write access to to unmounted folder.

It was mounted. But "mount at startup" wasn't set. So when I rebooted latter it did not mount.

I understand what happened but what you shouldn't have done is give user nextpvr write access to /media/clay. When the /etc/fstab mount works that is how access to /media/clay becomes available. You would have other errors trying to write from NextPVR but that would have help you track down the source of the problem. All is good and you have the huge benefit of using ext4 and not fuse to ntfs.
