This is not strictly a NextPVR question but it is NextPVR related.

Currently I have NextPVR v3.82 (yeah a really really old version) running on an also really really old server feeding our NMT's

Because I am now mostly deaf I have the component out sound from the NMT feeding an analogue amplifier that feeds the base station for my wireless volume controlled headphones.
This works really well as the NMT is feeding the TV via hdmi & the volume on the TV doesn't affect the volume on my headphones, this allows the boss to change it as much as she likes without affecting me.

I am currently almost ready to move to v5-v6 NextPVR using a near new Win11 PC as the replacement server & feed the TV's via uidroid & Chrome Cast with Goole TV units (I have this mostly setup & working).

The issue being is how do I get separate sound with modern technology... I have a toslink cable for the sound out from the TV & an optical to analogue adaptor to feed my amplifier which 'should' get my headphones working but what do I need to get (that doesn't cost two arms & a leg) to get sound for the wife that she can change the volume on without affecting the volume for me as well??

I am quite willing to admit I am way behind technology wise on this sort of stuff these days.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The optical out from the TV is not normally controlled by the TV's volume controls, are you saying yours is or do you mean she is change volume on the NMT? If she is using the NMT volume maybe configure the remote to control the TV volume.

Otherwise the CCGTV is certainly not the best device for this use. Many Android boxes (not sticks) have both TOSLINK and component out that runs in parallel with HDMI out.

No currently she just changes the TV volume with the TV remote....

I have not tried how it works with this (about two year old) 4k TV as getting the optical cable plugged in is more than a bit of an issue as the TV is mounted on the wall & the plugs/sockets are a long way back from the outer edge of the TV & you need a skinny arm to get to them. But if the TV volume is separate from the TOSLINK all should work as it does now which is what we want.

I have an old Samsung TV (2007 or so). I have a cheap bluetooth transmitter plugged into the audio-out jack (3.5mm? It's the same size as a headphone jack on a cell phone) on the back of the TV. It pairs with my bluetooth headphones. The volume control on the TV doesn't affect the audio out. I have control of the headphone volume via the volume control on the headphones.

I have no idea if this is universal, or if it even exists on newer sets. Just wanted to throw it out there as a possible solution.

My father's TV is 3 or 4 years old and the analog audio out to BT for his hearing aid is controlled by the remote. He can't find a happy medium. He likes the volume level of the optical out but he can't mute it with his remote and he finds having the TV volume on with analog too loud.
