Jerky Playback at 2160p

I just installed a  new NVIDIA graphics card capable of 4k, and changed resolution of both the Win10 screen (HDMI to Sony A1E) -and- Kodi display setttings to 2160p (3840 x 2160).  Since then, video playback has been very jerky.  Is there a setting I need to change in NextPVR?  I'm using a Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1265 Model 1196 for OTA.

If this is a Kodi display issue they you need to post on the Kodi forum with your Kodi debug logs. NextPVR just passes data and it doesn't care about resolution so don't post in the pvr.nextpvr section.

OK thank you - but it seems to be a moot point, little to no OTA content or streaming options for Win10 PC playback (I'm happy for anyone to correct me on this).

You are wrong there are more direct play client options for Windows that any PVR. NextPVR.exe, nlite, yauiclient, plus Emby and Jellyfin also have native clients from NextPVR too. In addition there are NextPVR clients for smart TVs, Android, Apple, Roku so you don't even need a connected PC. Of course there is a browser client too.

I also think you can make Kodi work if you get help from the forum you probably are just frustated with your new card not working as well as hoped out of the box.

If you are talking about OTA content that will depend on your location, some cities will have 100 channels, not necessarily great choices but many people are content with OTA.

Thank you for the additional information. My system is centered around the Win10 HTPC and Kodi with both NextPVR / Hauppauge and streaming addons, and from I what read none of the streaming providers support anything above HD on Windows machines. Due to the need to keep things simple for the wife-acceptance factor additional devices aren't really an option.

I don't know what you mean by streaming providers but your Hauppauge 1265 can only do 1080i tops. With Smart TV's you don't even need a device, I figure there are few people using Netflix Windows connected to a PC. I am sure there is YouTube content at 4k even on Windows.

Ironically reading your clients your will find lots of posts where users (and their wives) who prefer the simplicity of NextPVR UI ciient to Kodi but to each their own.

I read your posts on the Kodi forum and it is not clear if you solved your problem but multiple posts without logs isn't going to help you find a solution.

That being said you mention that WinTV is bad too are you sure you aren't having a signal issue? Normally WinTV has all the proper decoders for 1080i which should be pretty simple to show these days.
