My NextPVR server is a ten year old HP Microserver running Windows 10. I doubt if Windows 11 will run OK on it so started looking at Linux on an old PC instead. I have setup a second Test Server with NextPVR running on LibreElec. I did a test scan using the installed Astra28.2 transponder list with my SAT>IP tuner but many channels are missing! I manually downloaded the latest Scan Tables in Kodi but little or no difference.

Comparing the Astra-28.2E transponder list settings with those on King of Sat and there are many errors. It looks to be around 18 months out of date! However after a reboot I see a very different list of satellites more like the ones from a King of Sat download. After a search I find the King of Sat tuning files at :-
/storage/.kodi/addons/service.nextpvr/nextpvr.bin/data/tuning/DVB-S/

Unfortunately the 28.2.ini is dated April 2023. I downloaded the latest file and replaced the old 28.2.ini file and also copied a cut down regional .ini file with only 26 transponders I use instead of the 137 transponders on the default file.

A scan using my regional .ini file and finds most of wanted channels. Set EPG to “Freesat(UK)”. Reboot just in case! Select “Update EPG” scans 2 frequencies but zero inserted. Kodi.log enclosed!!

Chris

The 34K log file attached disappears what ever I do!!

SAT>IP on Windows and Linux use the same tuning file. Perhaps overwrite with the beta zip.

Your comments about dvb scan files on Linux are valid but no one cared enough to post about possible improvements I suggested

I forgot to zip the file!

I was surprised how much worked on LIbreElec as I doubt it has mass appeal!!

Although my last 10 plus years at work was Linux server admin I find LibreElec easier to use for things this!

Kodi logs won't help NextPVR server problem, or Kodi clients when they are not debug logs. We'd need the NextPVR logs, but as I posted try installing the beta first.

If that doesn't work and you still think it is the tuning files, I can give you the ones I can generate from the three sources I talked about. The scrape current and create the NextPVR tuning and Linux conf files. Someone posted that they scanned on Windows this week so they probably are ok.

A simple edit of the of the Astra 28.2 .ini file (0282.ini I think it’s called) stored in the Data/Tuning/DVBS2 folder ensuring that you only include active muxes and these muxes settings have the correct settings as per the likes of https://www.flysat.com/en/satellite/position/28-2-e

Ensure that you also include 11425 H and 11778 V and again ensure your settings for these muxes are correct in order to successfully scan in the Freesat 7 day EPG.

As Martin has stated ensure you are using the latest NPVR Beta in order to take advantage of NPVR’s ability to now populate your 7 day EPG.

If you’re in any further doubt it’s all laid out here. https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...56&page=10
If you follow this you’ll have only active muxes in your mux table (about 59) and a full Freesat 28.2 7 day EPG like I do

I checked my python scrapers and it only finds 45 or 46 FTA muxes on flysat, kos and lyngsat.  The only significant difference is the 12148 is showing dvb-s not s2 on kos and my script ids some mux (audio?) on the kos 11778 mux as FTA

Here is the flysat based ini, can you see why it is showing fewer than yours?

Code:

Nice to see they still scrape well after 4 months.

I wouldn’t even bother downloading satellite tables from external sources. All the user has to do is manually edit out non working muxes from the predefined mux table, ensure the active muxes have the correct settings as per Flysat or any other satellite table forum and the user has their personalised satellite table. The user will rarely have to edit his own table going forward.

You don't know they are FTA only until you scan.

Martin  - I am using Version: 6.1.5.231022 on my Linux NextPVR "Freesat EPG" test server but Beta 6.1.6.240217 on my Windows Freesat EPG  test server. Was there a "Freesat EPG" update in the Beta my Linux install is missing?

No sure how to upgrade linux as I Installed the latest release via "addons". I have download the Linux version of what I presume is Beta 6.1.6.240217. If I "Install From Zip file" will it upgrade the current version or destroy it!!! If you think the later Beta will help I can uninstall the current version and install the Beta from a zip!!

I am using my 28.3-West.ini file which contains only 26 transponders eliminating unwanted regional versions and transponders with nothing of interest to me!

I already pointed you to a link that contains the relevant information to install the latest Linux Beta but here’s the relevant command

sudo nextbuild=beta dpkg -i nextpvr-helper.deb

I’m assuming you are referring to Astra 28.2 E and not 28.3 W you are referring to. If you do as I suggest and manually edit your satellite table ini file inserting the correct information you’ll have no further difficulties tuning these muxes. If you do I suggest you check your dish settings.
