Just been recommended to give NextPVR a try by someone on a subreddit following a discussion on IPTV recording.

Followed the instructions on the website to download the client and all looks well however the install bar reaches full green and then has been like that for around 20-25 minutes, I've checked my program files directory and it appears to have installed files however I'm not sure if it's hanging/still doing something - is this a typical experience? I've downloaded and installed something else in the meantime and it resolved instantly, so I don't think it's a network connection issue.

No not typical it should be fast at this point. I suspect a firewall, antivirus or VPN rule is stopping the service from starting. If you have a c:\temp zip the file install.txt that is in it and upload as an attachment If not create c:\temp and reinstall.

Thanks for the response Martin - Took a look at this doc before zipping and tried to install again with admin priv as it directs but it's still resulting in the same thing - this .txt is from the latest install attempt with admin priv

I bet you're wondering how a man who sends an empty zip file could be having problems with a basic install? Just a little window into my technical capabilities in todays heatwave lol

Hopefully that works.

Ok that is clearly saying it didn't run as administrator. Normally Windows should prompt but it looks like you need to right click it and force it to run as administrator.

I can assure you that I deleted the NextPVR directory created in program files to perform a clean reinstall - cleared the previous .txt file in the temp directory - then went to the .exe in my downloads and right clicked and gave permission to run as administrator and the same thing happened - I just tried to record a video of me doing so via shareX but the prompt to allow admin priv causes the video to cut at that stage.

I've just done the same thing but this time gone into properties and selected 'always run as administrator' on the .exe and it's still produced the same outcome.

Rather than using properties, from Explorer can you right click it and use open as adminstrator.
