I have been informed by my professional epg watcher (Mrs Lao Pan), that for the last few days the movie year is no longer being shown.

This is on Kodi 21 Aeon Nox Silvo skin.

On investigation, in the browser main epg it appears in brackets after the title. In the browser drop-down menu as Released at the bottom of the window, but no brackets after the title.

Thinking this was probably a Kodi problem, I fired up the NPVR client for the first time in about 5 years - which has the same problem. No movie dates.

There were a couple of exceptions - Emma (2020) had it twice in the browser and once everywhere else. And also where it was mentioned in the description [Vin Diesels film from 2004]

In Brackets after the title is probably the most useful place to have the date.

Could you share your zipped npvr.db3 please. If it is bigger than 2MB it will need to be on external storage.

I actually haven't looked at that the database it shows here as deleted, but I just add had check with Estuary and it seems to be ok in the details and playback menu.  Could you check with the Estuary skin? If is not there from  http://localhost:8866/service?method=rec...filter=all  check if there is a year in the movie that you are watching

He joins her at a holiday party in the headquarters of the Japanese-owned business she works for. But the festivities are interrupted by a group of terrorists who take over the exclusive high-rise, and everyone in it. Very soon McClane realizes that there's no one to save the hostages -- but him.

Hi Martin
I'm not sure why that was deleted - I'll use another service if you need it still.

I've checked the recording list in the link. It only shows the recordings, and the last movie that we have kept, was from 02/11/2024 (version 6.1.5)
and had the date in brackets at the end of the description.

I have set a movie recording for this afternoon so will see how that comes out.

In the browser epg (below) the date is after the Movie Title in the time-line in brackets and also on the dropdown menu is at the bottom as Released: 1959

In the NextPVR Client (below) The date is not shown in the time-line nor in the description. This is the same as in Kodi both Aeon Nox Silvo and Estuary. (I think it was in the description in brackets at the end in the previous version of NPVR)

If we could get it the same as the browser EPG - in the time-line and description, it would be of help to someone who is fluent in Chinese, but self-taught in EPG English.
No that's not me - I'm fluent-ish in English Illiterate in Chinese Shy

I think I understand what you are saying.  If you go to the NextPVR Web Search page and open up a movie or film search I expect you will see the movie year.  If not there could be an issue.

What you probably are noticing is NextPVR normalizing the data so if you are using OTA there is a title and a separate year field.  The data is also parsed to make Season Episode separate fields.  Another change is that shows the begin with "New: " get parsed too so they become new.  That New parsing is configurable but it does help keep all recordings in one place.  For many of us our data is "clean" before coming to NextPVR so there is no change.

If you do see the year on the search it is possible the NextPVR.exe and UI clients never supported the movie year as a separate field  Perhaps you should make a a wishlist for sub showing the screens.  Same for Kodi skin the data should be there.

I can count to 10 in Chinese and ask for chopsticks, beer and white liquor among other things.  I did make a translation for a China trip earlier this year to show my wife's family though. If you ever want to surprise your wife I can package it up.

Mine is the same, no date in the desktop or android UI but fine in NPVR Web. I normally use NPVR Web so can't confirm or deny if the others had movie dates before the latest update

So I did some testing and Scheduled Direct data does show the movie year.  I know sub has had different movie year parsing dependant on SD as a source and now the year is stripped from  the title he needs to update the logic in UI clients and NextPVR.exe.

It might be worth going through and checking where you'd like to see the movie year.  In this example ideally seeing it in the full details in the bottom. For the eariler versions you probably saw it everywhere the detail shows

If it was showing before, it would have been a case of NextPVR not realising with was a year, and just thought it was part of the title. Now it recognize it, and removes it from the title, to make it part of the metadata of the show.

We probably need some equivalent of the <SchedulesDirectAppendMovieYear> setting that does this.
