The EPGs are missing from various channels eg Quest, Yesterday+1, ITVBe, 5SELECT, plus some other insignificant channels and radio stations.  Not sure if this was the case before the new version 7 was released, or not?

The EPG is set up to update 4 times a day with Windows Task Scheduler.

I have enclosed the log file.  Thanks

There are known issue with the EPG update on Windows and sub is look into it.

Four updates a days seem quite risky, with a good chance of losing recordings. Why do you need so many?

Martin. Some while back I had problems with the EPGs updating manually. Basically, they wouldn't update.
I solved the problem with multiple auto updates, and don't appear to.have lost any recording set ups as such.

I did notice that others have had issues with the EPGs, so I'll let my point ride with those. Cheers

As a fellow UK user, I would offer some suggestions.

Scanning 4 times a day should not be needed.
Terrestrial TV in the UK broadcasts all the EPG data with each transponder so you should only need one frequency to be scanned in order to get your EPG.

You do have a signal quality issue with two of the frequencies you're scanning which could lead to potential problems with the EPG garnered from those frequencies.

A good one shows quality 100 in the logs ...... "locked=1, present=1, strength=13000, quality=100 (took 0ms to check)"

the not so good ones show
"locked=1, present=1, strength=17000, quality=83 (took 0ms to check)" or "locked=1, present=1, strength=34000, quality=36 (took 0ms to check)"

I would suggest you choose one good frequency (e.g. 514000) and only scan that once a day.
You can control which frequencies are being scanned from the NPVR Web Settings page.

There are some errors showing in the NRecord logs during the EPG scan.
Perhaps Sub can advise on likely cause.

Those errors are just what I would expect with a bad signal. You don't see that during a recording but the could potentially be pixelization, but the EPG data is very reliant on a good stream, doing it for 1 minutes helps. I've reported that NShared trace line to sub a couple of times recently. The 4 updates are a band-aid better to move the antenna or figure out what the interference is.

Ray how are suggesting that a user select a frequency for the update, the choice would be None or DVB? It's true that data might come on another earlier frequency but if it is None I didn't think it would be picked up.

Martin,

Each DVB-T frequency defined from the channel list gets scanned for EPG data by default so if there are multiple transponders defined from the channels you get multiple scans for EPG data.
As each DVB-T transponder in the UK carries the whole EPG, you only need to scan one not all.

Unticking all but one DVB-T frequency from the Cog dropdown in the settings/guide/EPG Sources section of the web page reduces the scan to just the one frequency (so no redundant scans).

I do agree that the main issue here seems to be variable signal quality. The frequency I suggested did seem to be ok from the logs but may not be consistent without a reliable signal source.

Ray.

Excellent information, can you give me a screen shot and I will add this to the wiki.  NextPVR will stop scanning frequencies once all channels have propulated EPG but this could be helpful too.

Interesting that yours only lists 3 frequencies, mine has 7
