My Nova-T USB2 devices does not wake up when coming out of standby/hibernate. I suspect this is due to my power supply not holding the 5V rail up for USB devices when asleep but it could also be the mobo at fault.

so..

I copied gbpvrwake.exe to gbpvr folder and created wake.cmd to execute shutdown -r -t 0.

PC power options are set to go to standby after 20mins.

Now, when pc awakes from standby to record a show, it re-boots itself first! This ensures that the nova-t device (and thereby remote) is working correctly prior to recording a show.

Gotcha: You must run (double click) gbpvrwake.exe 1st to confirm to XP that you are happy for the application to run. You MUST also untick option to "ask this question in the future". (otherwise it doesn;t work)

"jobs a good un" as we country folk (that live in London) say :-)

Maybe just put gbpvrwake.exe (or a shortcut to it) in the startup folder in you startmenu/programs...

And possibly you don't need to restart the entire PC. If you look for the micrsoft tool devcon, you might be able to restart the nova-t only. I used to do this with my hauppauge pvr350 after hibernation. Look for the extensive thread on restart pvr350 after hibernate. Probably the thread where you also found the gbpvrwake.exe and wake.cmd files.

actually this is what I did, once i remembered that the program is not automatically invoked by gbpvr at startup!

i have tried this (by changing PCI entry to relevant USB one) but it doesn;t appear to work (i think that this may be because xp doesn't have to device registered because it is asleep.

thanks for the comments.

Maybe you'll have to tell devcon to restart the relevant USB port?

I goto device manager and in the usb serial bus controllers, then goto the USB2.0 or usb root properties and under the power management tab untick the box that states "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power." and its always worked for me. I do this for all of them as I don't know what ones the usb2 pvr and the usb2 nova-t units are on.

I've done this already but it didn;t help unfortunately.
