Sub-Title word wrap

My thought is it is not a good idea to hack the skin simply to accommodate data that is incorrect in the first place. The sub-title is supposed to be short

That example won't have a parsed sub-title.  You have to search out an episode with a colon in the description , like his "Richard Osman's House of Games: Champions" example or some of the Such Brave Girls examples.

Not quite. You might notice that one isn't parsed as episodic (no S/E) so I expect NextPVR doesn't try to parse the sub-title on it.  Because of not having the S/E this would lead to troubles was a recurring recording too.  This is why people like Schedules Direct.  Sometimes the crid in the UK helps though.

I don't have old data but this shows the extra data from SD.
