The scenario is simple. I want to be able to create a series recording in NextPVR from the guide screen in Kodi.
The one-time recording works (actionid=record or keyboard ctrl-r) but the Kodi series recording request (actionid=showtimerrule or keyboard t) ends up creating a Record Series (Daily, this timeslot) in NextPVR.

I don't know how to change the recording type in NextPVR that is created from this action in Kodi. (Assume that is done in the kodi NextPVR client, but that client is binary.)

OK that is almost clearer now, I didn't know about the t key so didn't catch it first time. However when I use t in Kodi it works as expected. Are you modifying the Days of week "Any day" setting? If so yes those type of recurring recordings would show as timeslot recordings in NextPVR. If you create a Series recording in NextPVR note that it is also "Any day".

As noted a few time you can't change recording types in NextPVR just in Kodi.

This should discussion should have started in the Kodi section.

This thread is still relevant because the duplicate records in XMLTV will cause "Record Series (daily, this timeslot)" to miss recordings that should have happened. Since the generation of the guide data is typically automated and there is no error generated, it might happen to a properly configured and running system without being noticed.

I will open a new thread in the Kodi section for further discussion regarding the Kodi addon.

Yes any new timeslot recordings, which are most of them other than Series, will fail with bad XMLTV files or the current NUtility.
