Hi Folks

As of this morning, I am using the `docker image: nextpvr/nextpvr_amd64Confusedtable` - prior to this I have had NextPVR working well for years with Windows 10.

(This is Docker in an LXC on Proxmox, hardware is a Hauppage WinTV 2200 PCI card).

It's mostly working well, I can stream TV etc...but I just cannot get it to tune ABC here in Melbourne (I'm located reasonably centrally).  Previously I've had no issues tuning ABC under Windows (although I do recall, very long ago, I perhaps had to modify some config somewhere but not sure if that was ABC related or something else...)

It appears you're now using: https://git.linuxtv.org/dtv-scan-tables....-Melbourne - is that right?  And the files I found in the docker tuning folder are not used?

In any case, I have tried all the available options vaguely related to Melbourne (and my state, Victoria) options in the list - none result in ABC becoming available.  The main Melbourne available options are all for towers quite some distance from central Melbourne, and there is a more local option:

https://ozdigitaltv.com/transmitters/VIC/720-Melbourne, which lists:

ABC
ABC43
634.500 Mhz

vs what seems to be in the current Melbourne related entries:

ABC
ABC12
226.500 Mhz

(I am fairly confident I was using 226.500 in the past though, as it happens).  Perhaps something is going on with signal strength - it is possible to extend the searching time and/or lower the threshold to see what happens?  I've ne ver had any actual playback issues once things were tuned.

Is there some way to explicitly try particular frequencies, rather than use these lists (that are seemingly rather incomplete)?   Basically - what can I do to get this solved?

(I see recommendations for tscapture etc for daignosis - is there a Linux equivalent?)

The Linux dtv-scan-tables frequencies are notoriously bad and out of date.

Personally, I just manually edited the file to set the correct frequencies. On most machines they can be found in /usr/share/dvb/

Thanks, I edited the file and added the other frequency, but it's still not coming up on a scan. And the more I think about it, the more I am fairly confident it was previously using the 226.500 Mhz frequency anyway.

Is there anything once can do to make it 'search harder' so to speak? (worth pointing out again this same setup under Windows was working for many years...so I feel like if I can get past the scanning bit things should be fine again!)

I have that in my au-Melbourne file already:

[ABC]
DELIVERY_SYSTEM = DVBT
FREQUENCY = 226500000
BANDWIDTH_HZ = 7000000
CODE_RATE_HP = AUTO
CODE_RATE_LP = AUTO
MODULATION = QAM/64
TRANSMISSION_MODE = 8K
GUARD_INTERVAL = 1/16
HIERARCHY = NONE
INVERSION = AUTO

Reading on, I ran: sudo dvbv5-scan -a 1 au-Melbourne

Which gives:

...so it seems ABC is there, with a strong signal? So the problem is with reception, rather something in NextPVR not picking it up for some reason I guess?

Could you create a single file with Melbourne

Code:
# ABC Melbourne
[CHANNEL]
    DELIVERY_SYSTEM = DVBT
    FREQUENCY = 226500000
    BANDWIDTH_HZ = 7000000
    CODE_RATE_HP = AUTO
    CODE_RATE_LP = AUTO
    MODULATION = QAM/64
    TRANSMISSION_MODE = 8K
    GUARD_INTERVAL = 1/16
    HIERARCHY = NONE
    INVERSION = AUTO

Scan it and send the logs.

Yes sure, but will have to be in the morning here. You mean scan within NextPVR right, and the logs from there I guess, not the scan as above...

Yes. You aren't the first with this problem https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?tid=63714

Too bad you forgot the logs with your first post.

Ok, scanning that file, separately, worked...It found the full ABC set and I have added the ones I want.  Not seeing the EPG info yet (even with a manual update) - but I presume that will follow?

Playback is working.

Logs of that scan here:

Yes that is the scan oddity I don't fully understand, it skips that frequency when it is included with others but it works alone. Same problem for channel 10 this time.

The EPG update failed because the device wasn't able to lock a signal on any frequency.
