Hi,
I've just installed Nextpvr on my ubuntu laptop. All fine except the dvb channel scan from my hauppauge usb receiver. I just can't find a profile able to find more than 5 channels. I've used W_scan to create a list of channel and converted it to a format like the .conf file as found in the /var/opt/nextpvr folder, it's much more quicker than having to try 40 different scan profiles, but that list is not taken into account into the backend.
I'm wondering if there's a way to import my custom channel list, cause frankly having to spot the right scan profile is not working for me (not even the closest location!).

Thanks for helping!

No there is no import, but if you remove the duplicate frequencies from the conf file you made then you could use that as input by putting it in /usr/share/dvb-?

It that still fails upload the zipped logs from the settings page.

It worked! I've copied my conf file to /usr/share/dvb/dvb-t and after scanning the file it found all the channels Smile
Thanks a lot!

Thank you too I often forget to tell people to w_scan because it takes so long but it is a good option for users who don't have a good conf file.

Is w_scan able to produce a format compatible with those scan files? I used a small script to make the conversion, but of course one step less would be even better.

No but w_scan2 https://github.com/stefantalpalaru/w_scan2 has a -5 option that does.

On systems where getting that or building that is impossible w_scan -x will create a format that is compatible with the conversion utility included with libdvbv5 file

dvb-format-convert -I CHANNEL -O DVBV5 inputfile output.conf.

You  can use auto-Default or auto-With167kHzOffsets scan files with NextPVR to scan every UHF dvb-t frequency which takes longer than an individual region scan file but it should find everything.

My preference would be the w_scan approach since the file can be reused so the long scan might only need to be done once.

I think using the auto-XXX scan files takes about 5 minutes (certainly less than 10 minutes) and the relevant conf files are generated in the process.

For atsc and dvb-c there are no good auto file and I like to offer one primary tool for the toolchest.

My point really was the NextPVR scan doesn't create a resusable scan file, so rescans might always be long handy when conditions weren't good. The auto-default is ok to try but the 167 offsets will be 3x longer and they both miss 6MHZ.
