Well, I took your advice and installed Kodi.  Playback with kodi works seamlessly for live TV and a newly recorded show, but for some reason it errors out trying to play the previously recorded NFL game we've been working on here.

That makes me think there's something messed up with that recording.

From my perspective we can call this done if you'd like.

If it's only one file then I suspect that because ffmpeg can't determine the duration (shown in your logs) it is file specific and it is such a large file it is hard to move around. If you find another case like this, we can continue.

I know this is an old post, but a problem I run into still from time to time with old recordings.

You can see if the problematic recordings will play in another player under linux, such as VLC.

Back in my Windoze days I had a tool to fix recording timelines (is that the right term?). I'd have full recordings that only showed as 30 seconds or 1 second in the OSD time bar, and skipping didn't work at all, would just jump you back to the beginning of the recording. But if you just let it play, it would play the full recording. I remember I had a util installed with a Windoze desktop shortcut and I could just drag-n-drop a recording onto the shortcut and it would fix the .ts file timeline. It's seems there's a bunch of tools out there now, but I don't recognize any by name. It seems VLC can fix some of these problems too though I haven't messed with it yet.

Anyway, food for thought if you still have these recordings and want to see if they can be made more NextPVR/Kodi-playable.

I just found a couple of these types of recordings now. VLC plays them fine, shows they are 1+ hour recordings.

What client are you using for playback, you have a lot of obsolete stuff showing, zipped logs are best.
