I can second that the .net beta seems to help with disconnects and reboots on the MVP.

After reading patd's post, I decided to give it a try. I was playing some MP3s earlier in the day with a reboot about every 3 or 4 songs. More consistently, the MVP would stop responding while doing a slideshow using the My Pictures plugin while streaming an MP3.

I installed the .net 2.0 beta client, restarted the gbpvr services, power cycled the MVP, and decided to try to recreate the problems I had earlier in the day. I started up the Music Player plugin in Jukebox mode and waited. About 5 or 6 songs into it, everything seemed fine. So I left it playing all night long and this morning it was still playing without issue for over 7 hours.

I'll have to see what I get when playing back mpeg recordings of some shows, hopefully it helped with the stability with that as well.

I have been experiencing the same thing. At the end of every song (mp3's using Music Player) my MVP reboots and kicks me back to the main menu. Actually it seems to happen 5 to 10 seconds before the end of the song.

Did you solve this RocketMan?

I'm going to try installing .net 2.0 beta 2 tonight to see if that helps. And I'll try using the HP software to see if it happens without gbpvr.

This sounds exactly like what I get when I view live TV. It gets to the end of a show, crashes and searches for a server. I get the same "An established connection was aborted by the software in your host machine" message. Does your system make it through the transition to the next show when watching TV? Anyone know of any issues/risks of .net 2.0 beta?

I generally don't use my HTPC for live tv, so I haven't experienced what you are experiencing, but I agree it could be related. I tried playing back a recording and letting it reach the end (generally don't do this because of padding) and it lost connection right at the end, the same as with MP3's.

Hopefully I get some time tonight for experimenting possible fixes. I'll also try some LiveTv.

I actaully did fix my problem. I had run out of ideas so i decided to try the MVP network tweaks found on the WIKI page. Anyway, i applied the tweak and haven't had a problem since. I was most impressed. Hope it works for you guys...

Thanks for the suggestions but I'm still experiencing this error. I tried Enabling the Network Adapter Onboard Processor, and it still rebooted at the end of an mp3.

I then tried installing .net 2.0 beta 2. But still had the same problem.

Any other suggestions? I am running GBPVR 94.13 on a 3.0 Athlon with 512MB ram. My network is 10/100 over cat5.

My log looks very similiar.

Although I havent had this particular problem I have found that if I use taskmanager to set priority of gbpvr.exe [the mvp server] to above normal priority a lot of odd disconnections just go away

I'm running AMD64 3000 with 1gb ram

see the following thread http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=6568

Sub has said he'll add a option for this in next release

I can confirm for soccerdad that I do get a disconnect when watching LiveTv and the buffer is changing from the end of one show to the next.

Tkgafs, thanks for the tip, I tried increasing the gbpvr.exe priority using Task Manager but I got a permission denied error because it is being run by the System user. The link you provided gives a way around this, so I'll try that next. I'm not sure if this is my problem because my PC is not running anything else.
