I have a RS232 IR Blaster from http://www.irblaster.info/ and was wondering if anyone has used this with bgpvr, it's just a serial blaster but I have no idea if it will work with gbpvr.....if not, whats the best ir blaster to use with gbpvr??

thanks

I never did get it to work. At all. With my STB, that is. It sends signals, and it actually seems to send the signals I have told it (I set up another computer to learn the signals sent out by the blaster, and the resulting file I got was the one I started with, so...), but my box does not in any way react. This is not a gbpvr problem, though, I never did get it to work with winlirc's own software either. Never did find another software to try.

If you do order one from irblaster.info, be sure to tell him you will use it on a windows computer. He has some that are especially made for windows (the default is linux computers)... Don't know if that would make any difference, though (I did get one that was made for linux, I didn't know there was any difference in the hardware...)

I was thinking about getting an RS232->USB adapter to see if that would improve communications on my box. I'm not communicating with mine at all, but I don't have an IR option in my BIOS. I've only got a hardware header on my motherboard for IR mouse/keyboard communication. I'm trying to find the pinout for it & see if I can make a specialty adapter or I'll just try the serial->USB thing.

I wasn't aware that be built different flavors or that there would be any wiring differences between a Win box or a Linux box, so I got the "linux build," if you will.

I have the pvr-350, but the ir that came with it is only for remote receiving a signal from the remote that came with it and not to change the dish network sat box.....unless i'm wrong?

Yes, there are different types. I got the one with the 56khz option, so that it'll work with the widest range of possible devices.
