When you stream to the MVP, do you just have stereo audio? I am not using the MVP yet, and it looks like all of the extenders are only stereo.

Is there a media extender out there that can produce 5.1 audio? If so, what is it?
I just want to have a single server that holds all my ripped DVDs and records tv. Then I want about 3 clients that can play the dvd's/recorded tv in other rooms with good DVD quality picture and 5.1 audio. Is that soo much to ask???

Well, I use the DSM-320 to play Movies with 5.1 audio, and it works alright. It even supports VOB's. If you get a DSM-320 don't use the server software that comes with it, but get the TVersity server, it does the best job.
The DSM-320 doesn't give a great user interface, but it does a decent enough job of serving up video, once you get the correct server software to go with it.

Does the 320 work with gbpvr? or with myth?

If you get the DLink DSM-320 or he DSM-320RD (has a dvd player), you can't use the GBPVR UI on the DSM-320, but it can play all the files that GBPVR records which is how I use it. I have GBPVR recording the shows, I have TVersity Media Server scanning those directories and adding new content to it's list, and the DSM-320 interacts with the TVersity Media server to play the various files. The DSM-320 is a UPnP device, and hooks into your network both via wireless and ethernet.
It's taken me a while to find the right combination, and also for the DSM-320 firmware to get stabalized, but for what I need it for, it works. If you want and need 5.1 audio playback, it is probably the least expensive device that includes it, plus it plays back natively Xvid and Divx encoded files, with Tversity doing transcoding, you can play back virtually any type of video file. The DSM-320 also handles Music as well, and works really well with that. If you need the GBPVR front end on the DSM-320, then it isn't going to be what you need, but if you just want the ability to play back files, then it might be worth looking into. Check EBay you can probably find some used DSM-320, US retail I see them for about $160.

Jorm,
How can we get mulitple HDs to link to XDVD. I have several external HDs holdings DVD rips, but I cannot directly link to them from within the settings.xml file. I have to Map drive letters and go to each drive to select a Rip. Is there a trick to make XDVD see multiple drives at once? Thanks!

Search for my patched version. Here is the link:
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=17136 I think it does exactely what you want. The reason I patched it was due to an sqlite problem, and another problem with browsing directories when I compiled it using .Net 2.0. Therefore the fix I put in was to allow you to specify multiple directories that held the DVDs. It doesn't allow you to browse through your entire computer anymore but I have my DVDs organized . Please give me feedback on the patched version. There is one known problem where the DVD's are no longer playing on the main GBPVR system (the only play on the mediaMVP) for some reason. I also want to make the directory browsing look more like the directory browsing found in either the recordings plugin or the videa archive plugin. I just haven't decided (any opinions?).

I am having difficutlies with vlc and xDVD. It used to work before but I do not know what may have happened to make it not work. Anyway. When I select an ISO to play. the screen on gbpvr shows the green box but doesnt count down. Then when I go to my computer an error box shows up on vlc.
blue box vlc.exe - No Disk There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive F:. THis is an odd error because it shows up after vlc shows the menu on the pc. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Have you done the check to make sure that deamon-tools is in the default install location. I think I had this same problem initially and it was due to daemon tools not be installed correctly.
