wireless won't stop connecting!!!!

I know most want get their mvp to run wireless. I have a wireless linksys that i have hardwired to the pc. I can't get the dang thing to not use the wireless and commit to the cat5 5 ( I have a 4 port wirelss router. Can I establish a static ip for this thing? i

Have you tried going into Network Places, selecting the adapter and disabling it?
