Recording at high speed?

I had some problems with things getting unstable, and finally did a fresh install (kept my old database) on Monday. Everything seemed fine, but starting on Wednesday evening the recordings all seem to have problems. The file sizes for the recordings are smaller, and the time bar on 1-hour shows have a max time of 45 minutes. The recordings seem to be skipping (like the sampling rate is too slow, everything is moving too fast) and the audio gets more out of sync as you go further into the recording.

I can't think of anything I might have changed, I always record at the default medium bit rate.

What can I check or look for?

Additional... I copied the config.xml from my old install into the new install, and it seems to have fixed the problem - at least, the last 2 recordings tonight seemed to be the correct lenght with no skipping. However, the system seemed much more stable with the new config.xml I built when I did the reinstall (by stablity problems, I mean that the system (Media MVP) would lock up when I hit the stop button on the Media MVP, and would then have trouble reconnecting to the server). I am attaching copies of the old and new config.xml files, if anyone could take a look to see if they can spot the problem. I note that the new one has bit rates in the VideoArchive section, whereas the old one did not. (I trimmed a bit out of the bottom of the new one to make it small enough to upload)
