I hadn't had this error in a long time...happened 2x tonight...any ideas? Happens while watching in TS, and at the show change. Other shows have changed time just fine.

It happened again tonight, but I found something. Here's the error:
Quote:11/29/2005 10:30:17 PM.421 ERROR [2] Error: msg=0x8001 hwnd=0xc0154 wparam=0x0 lparam=0x0 result=0x0 : System.Exception: Failure playing back file
at NativeUtilities.MediaHelper.playVideoFile(String filename, Form form)
at xae10db17d26ba033.xbe83d16b02243330.playbackEnded()
at xae10db17d26ba033.xbe83d16b02243330.OnGraphNotify()
at xae10db17d26ba033.xbb1566157f5f8b1f.WndProc(Message& x5f8f2c40c000ab2c)

Now, here's that program change in native:
Quote:22:28:10.671 INFO DirectShowPlayerBase::playFile() done
22:30:16.812 INFO DirectShowPlayerBase::playVideoFile(D:\captv_studio\Live\Chappelles Show_1_20051129_21002130.mpg)

Nothing about it looks unusal, except that is not the next show, that show is not on this channel, and is not airing at the same time. It was on at the time in the file name, but it's not the time in the time the event took place. Also, I didn't watch it at all when it was on.

I dind't notice this part last time, and it happened before the update, too. What would cause this? I can say it's somwhat rare/random.

Here are the logs if that helps.

I'm not opposed--but not eager--to do a reinstall of GB (w/ the exception of the DBs) if that would fix it.

I'm usually open to things having the possibility of being system, hardware, or codec/decoder related, but this one seems like a GB thing, since I don't see how something outside could cause it to look for the wrong program/channel/time to show next.

Can you set the logging level back to 'debug' then reproduce and repost the logs?

I will. I can't reproduce it at all, though. I'm guessing from those logs alone, you can see there wasn't any extordinary use before then, so I have no idea what sets it off. I'll just changwe that, and I'll wait for it to happen again.

The only thing I can say about that instance was that I had been watching a recording durning the time that other show was actually airing, and exited to the guide while it was on (and hovered over that show, w/o watching, wondering if I should watch it for 2-3min), and then returned to the recording. That's about as close/relevant I can to the show it should have played, and the one it thought it should play.

Is it possible you have file exclusively locked by something? ie it had just recorded, and you were running some post processing utility on it at the time?

I'm not sure how much of that was in the logs, but at the time, I was watching the channel, and it was just time to change from that time slot to the next. It just kicked me out from the show and to that error. I watch in TS, and only have one tuner. Nothing had been recorded that day, so no postprocessing of any kind should have been happening.

Just prior to that, I had only been watching a show that I had recorded weeks ago, and deleted after. GB is on the C: drive, the live spool is on D:, and the recording drive is E:. Since I was already watching TV, the D: drive would already have been active, so it wouldn't have been spun down.

Even if it was a lock of some kind, why would it pick an unwatched show to play next? It was never created, so it really couldn't have been locked. The live folder is empty, so nothing is stuck in there now.

I can't remember much about the last time it happened, but it seemed like I had just been watching the same channel for more than one show, w/o any activity in between time slots.

I checked the XP events, and nothing happend on the system during that time as far as I could tell.

If it helps I believe I am getting the same problem and hopefully can expand/clarify it - if it is unconnected then please ignore and I'll start a new thread! I get the same errors in the logs on my single PVR-150 system.

I had firstly a problem with LiveTV Preview mode where every so often LiveTV would produce only a black screen and any recording would be 0 bytes. The only way to reset this error was to power off/on (not restart or use devcon). I seem to remember I also saw "access is denied" and "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" errors.

If I have timeshift set as default instead then (initially it seemed to work OK) then now it hangs for 10secs on the black timeshift screen and then gives the "failure playing back file" error - which is because the TVbuffer file is again 0bytes so it cannot start timeshifting playback. Again a full system power off/on is required to reset. This problem initially only seemed to start when I was playing with the F11 options (the guide works fine but procamp would always give a "Overflow errror"), but I'm pretty certain this is a coincidence as the problem seems intermittent (and is also seems not related to standby as I originally thought).
I attached logs from both scenarios. I use 95.11 with DScaler decoder and VMR9.

This is unrelated to the problem described above.

These problems are caused by something wrong on your system, which causes the capture device to stop producing data. Make sure you dont have the IRQ shared with any other device. Try different versions of drivers etc.

Sub, thanks, does it sound like a known problem or should I do some more testing and then start a new thread?
