Hi Guys

I Have ben a happy GB-PVR user for some time now Big Grin

But after installing a PVR500 card with my PVR350 the picture is very blurry...
With subtitles its like seing double.

I have checked The signal (Proff Cabel Guy) and I can see that the signal connected to a TV is perfect but after recorded and shown via the TV-out on the PVR350, its blurry...I tried to play it on the PC and its very blurry so it is the capture part....

Can this be a driver issue (After installing the PVR500 drivers) or is the capture part only depending on the Hardware

what can I do to fix this...Any input Ideas....

Maybe you can do something with the Hauppauge tweak tool in the sharpness settings ?

Have you tried 3 simultaneous recordings ? While recording open the tray icon to tell you which show is going to which card. This will tell you if there is a difference between recordings from the 350 versus 500 tuners.

You could still have a signal level problem. You checked your level with your TV. The tuner in your TV may be more sensitive than the ones in the tuner cards. You say that your PVR350 is recording fine. OK, switch the cables between the 350 and 500 cards and see if that changes anything. Be sure to perform your tests on the same channel. I have a few channels that look much worse than the others.

Ok now I am really confused....

After recording on all 3 recordings (Same channel) I can see that the problem is in the PVR-500 card..its so "Fussy" I cant read any subtitles its a blur...

I also shifted the cables to see if it was the signal...still the same.

So what can I try to change? beside changes the recording order so the PVR-350 card is the 1 recorder choice.

When I think about this, all my problems started after installing the 500 card...
Any recommendation on driver version etc...

I'm guessing its signal strength related. I assume you've got a splitter outside your PC, then internally the PVR500 again splits the signal to both tuners. If you had a weak signal to begin with, this could be the cause.

No I haed a Cabel guy out with his "litle black box" I have plenty of signal.
I bought a Triax Cabel amplifier and I have no noise and High cabel signal.

The splitter is coming directly from the amplifier and the splitter is a special shilded box...

That is why I am now focusing on the Hardware and software.
I have already spent alot of money and time to eleminate the signal as a error

By the way I am trying to alter the selection of how recording is done without deleting all my capture sources.... (Would like to have the 350 as nr#1)

Can you tell me if it is enough to just change the capture source in GB-PVR from Ex 3 to 1 or is the source related to the order of how the card is put into the PCI slots.... I have tried this but it results in black screens..but maybee a reboot will fix this?

When looking deciding which capture source to use for recording, it usually starts at the top of the list in the 'capture sources' tab in the config app and works its way down (must have channel and be available at the specified time). Looking for a capture source for live tv does the opposite, starting at the bottom of the list and working up. The rules can change a bit with back to back recordings, since it tries to make sure all recordings get padding.

There is no easy way to change the order, other than deleteing and recreating the capture sources.

After deleting all capture sources and defining them again.

I get a black screen when trying to watch anything...same EPG as before.

What files do I have to delete to get it working again...Starting from scratcht.

is it enough to delete the XML file in the GB-PVR dir?

If I try to use TV2000 I can see that all my cahnnels is still working...But every time I try to "see live TV" in GB-PVR to test it...I get a blank screen?

Another thing you could look for is electrical interference (although that would normally result in lines/striping). My 350 is always sharp but recordings on my PVR500 generally have a slight striping on them - it is caused by one of the cooling fans in my PC. The fan is three-speed if I set it to Hi or Lo I just get mild striping - if I set the speed to Medium, the picture is unwatchable.
