I just acquired a 2nd WinTV-PVR 150 tuner (actually the second one is the MCE venison, but by all accounts it is driven the same on Windows XP as the non-MCE version).

I ran the CONFIG application and added it as a second capture source, adding it as Capture Card Type of Hauppauge PVR150 and a Board Number of Capture Device #2.

After saving the config (which automatically restarts the recording service) I launched GB-PVR to test the config. I went to the TV Guide and select one channel to Quick Rec. Once that was started I tried to do the same for a second channel, but I got a "Conflict" message indicating that I would either have to stop my current recording or cancel the new recording.

Similarly, when I tried to use Live TV while the recording was going, I got the same conflict message.

I also tried changing the Capture Card Type to Hauppauge PVR150MCE since this second card is actually the MCE version. No luck here either.

I know that both cards work because I can go into Device manager and disable each of them alternately and still watch TV (either via GB-PVR or the WinTV application), and I am certain of which card is in use by simply unplugging the coax cable and seeing the snowy screen .. so, this is proof positive that each of the cards work.

NOTE: I am not using the MCE drivers since I have standard WindowsXP Pro as my OS, not WindowsXP MCE.

Also, the second card (the MCE edition) has an FM tuner. I haven't installed any drivers for it as I don't want to use the MCE drivers. Any idea how to get a driver for the WinTV 150MCE's FM tuner on a standard WindowsXP OS?

Any and all help would be appreciated.

This might be a dumb question but did you scan for channels and map the epg on the second card?

There's no such thing as a dumb question ... that took care of it. I actually had thought of that after walking away from the computer and came back and tried that just 5 minutes ago ... yeah right, you say Big Grin .

Thanks so much to both you and tipstir Smile

Anybody have any ideas on the second question (i.e., regarding installation of a driver for the FM tuner on the WinTV 150MCE that will work under WindowsXP)? I'm assuming that the installation of a driver is all I need for GB-PVR to successfully scan the FM radio stations.

If you set the second capture source as a 'PVR150MCE' then the FM Radio portion should work. You dont need to install any extra driver.

I've done that, but I get "Unable to locate available FM tuner" any time I go into the FM radio module and try to do something (ex: Scan for stations or play an added station). There is a TV show recording on #2 right now (which is the WinTV PVR-150MCE card, i.e., the one with the FM tuner) but that wouldn't block the FM tuner, would it?

Yes, it would. There is only one tuner and one set of capture hardware on this device. If you're recording TV, you cant also be listening to FM radio at the same time.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll give it another try when the TV recordings are done.

Ok .. I've tried it with the TV tuner not being accessed. I can get the FM radio to play by adding a known station to the list and then highlighting it and selecting "Play" (or by double clicking the listed station). So far, so good.

But, if I try to "Scan" for stations the application perpetually shows 87.50 MHz and the "Please wait ... " text, but never advances to a station. Audibly I can hear the white noise of an untuned station. I've tried to choose "Skip", but that does nothing .. same for "Keep". If I choose "Cancel" the dialog fro scanning disappears, but the white noise remains. At this point I have to choose a station that I had manually added to the list in order to get the white noise to go away and to tune to that station.

Second issue ... when I add a station manually the name for the station is UNKNOWN and I have no way of changing it. Shoudln't I be able to select the name field and type a name of my choosing?

Final question ... if I'm sitting at my computer tuned to my favorite radio station and the time for a scheduled TV recording comes up and the scheduler needs this second card (Capture Device #2) is GB-PVR programmed to end radio tuning and defer to the TV tuner, thus insuring that the scheduled recording doesn't get by-passed?

Just manually add them then.

On my setup I can just type the name of the stations if the 'name' fields is highlighted.

Man .. you're too fast Smile .. I was editing my post when you replied.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Quote:Just manually add them then.

So .. I guess you're saying that the fact that "Scan" doesn't work for me is not unusual. Guess it doesn't work for some tuners / cards.

Quote:On my setup I can just type the name of the stations if the 'name' fields is highlighted.

Any ideas on how I can get that to happen for my setup (NOTE: I didn't see any "Settings" possibilities for FM Radio on the Plugins page of the Config app)?

I had added a final question in my edit. Here it is again:
