I have a pvr150mce remote. The buttons do not work like you would expect. The only buttons that work as labeled, are the up, down, left right, ok, volume and channel buttons. The clear button performs "go back" as far as I can tell. None of the other buttons work at all, like play, reverse, forward, etc. So I rely on the remote that came with my pvr350. But that remote doesn't quite right either. The number buttons do not do anything, and the neither do up, down, left, right. The play, forward, skip buttons do work however. I have tried the Fix Happauge remote settings (both 45 and 34 button) but that doesn't fix anything. It would be great if most of the buttons worked as expected. Any ideas?

the pvr150MCE doesnt come with a remote as its assumed by hauppauge you will be using the remote that comes with MCE machines. do you mean you are trying to use an MCE2005 remote?
If so the only way around this that i found was to use HIP to assign the extra functions.

Check you irremote.ini (I think it lives in the c:\windows directory) and try to see if it looks fishy.

What should I check in there?

Not sure... look for the buttons that don't work with the pvr-350 remote, and see if the file seems to point out the correct actions for them.

As ricklous pointed out above, the PVR150MCE usually doesnt come with a remote.

Recently I see Hauppauge started producing an MCE bundle which includes this device and an MCE remote. This new remote isnt the best remote to use with GB-PVR since its missing the red/green/yellow/blue buttons, but you should be able to mostly use it by setting the remote type to 'MCE' in the config app.

Sub, as you said Hauppage does have a "MCE 150 Bundle". I have seen it as some local retailers.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?...4432575998

I guess PC producers are starting to sell the MCE boxes without tuners/remotes. I think this was supposed to be an easy upgrade to those boxes.

I'm not sure why people would pay more for the MCE remote, but there it is.

Since were on the subject of MCE vs Hauppauge 45 button remotes, are the interchangeable? Can you use a MCE remote with a Hauppauge Receiver or vise versa? I don't have an MCE remote but I assume its just using RC5 or Rc6 codes. Anyone know? I realize the functions might not line up with the correct buttons.

Thanks

Thanks! Setting the remote type to MCE worked. Now most of the mce2005 buttons work. What are the colored buttons for though? They don't seem to do anything.

I'm going to guess this is not the remote in your MCE kit?

I think I saw some remote someplace (this forum maybe) that looked like a combo between the MCE and Hauppauge 45button remotes. Is that what you have?

ive had a Hauppauge remote working via a MCE receiver. Had to teach HIP all the codes for the hauppauge but yeah, it does work.
