Recording Problems

I programmed the tv guide to record some shows this morning and some

recorded and some didnt record. The shows that did record varied between

40 kb and roughly 32 mbs. This nuisance have persisted over the past two

weeks but it is becoming very frequent. The questions I have are: could

microsoft be the cause of this because they have serious competition or

could the zap2it guide be the cause of this inconsistancy? I don't trust

microsoft's software or company that much anyhow and anyway!

What sort of capture device do you have?

Its usually not a good sign if a recording stops unexpectedly mid way through. GB-PVR effectively sets up a recording then tells it to start, then steps out of the way until its time to tell it to stop. If it stops somewhere in between these two points, it means your capture device has stopped producing data. Some people get this with the Hauppauge analog cards when the device is sharing an IRQ with another device.

I am using the hauppaugepvr 150 Non MCE edition with the 45 button remote and RECENT DRIVERS.

It might worth checking if you're sharing the IRQ with any other hardware.

There are TWO devices (C-media audio device and Happauge PVR 150 PCI) using the same IRQ(18) BUT DIFFERENT MEMORY RANGES. How to correct the conflicting memory ranges?

I doubt the memory range has anything to do with it.

I switched my Pvr 150 card to the First PCI slot and now the irq conflict is diverted to the modem instead. Thankfully, I am glad the pvr-150 conflict is vamoosed.

[I disconnected the pvr150 association from the GBPVR program because the recording failures continued. The only irq conflicts I have are : modem,agp slot, volari video card, and on board sound card. I am now using my m402u device and the failures persists. This morning I woke the computer only to find an error prompt stating:C:\WINDOWS\gbpvr>cd c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr
The system cannot find the path specified.

C:\WINDOWS\gbpvr>PriorityRecording.exe 1>recording.log

I installed GBPVR to the windows directory because the program files directory would allow the remote to start GBPVR. :confused:

I mentioned shared IRQs above as an example of one thing that has been known to cause this in the past. Your problem could be something entirely different. Since you've changed capture devices, it seems likely its related to something else in your PC.
