I haven't given it much thought, but I don't see the need. I planned to continue threads under jdstarling until they peter out, but engage in new threads as Old Dog.

Of course you probably know something I haven't realized, so please advise.

I'd prefer people stick to being one user.

Even a year from now, you'll find people in the trying to PM jdstarling to discuss stuff based on old posts etc, meaning you'll either be maintaining two accounts for a very long time, or people with be having problems contacting you, or realising you're now a different username.

Should it become popular, could we discuss how I might go about making the Appearance Manager usable on the MVP.

For one to get it to work on the MVP, GBPVR itself would have to handle the screen rendering. I.e. it would have to use the GBPVR Plugin API, so that GBPVR could send the rendered images to the MVP.

This seems like it would be and excellent plugin on its own. I'd like to second this request. I don't know what it might mean for all our existing skins and the skinners, though.

Everthing about my skins is open for anyone to use in any way they wish. I encourage it.

The Appearance Manager was designed to be reused. However, the initial release does have at least one known deficiency in reusability that I intend to cover in a subsequent version.

Of course to use the Appearance Manager, other skinners would have to adopt The Collection's architecture which may not be practical for them.

I do plan to describe the system in the developer's forum, but, as it is now, I must resolve the problem with the MVP first.

OK couple problems

- can't change the appearance on the MVP. I know it's far fetched, but any chance this can be done?

its not really feasible to change skin on the fly on the mvp as its driven by the gbpvrrecordingservice

so to see any changes in the skin requires you to run

net stop "GB-PVR Recording Service"

then

net start "GB-PVR Recording Service"

and obviously once you stop the service you cant see the mvp screen and have to wait for it to reconnect ......

much simpler to do the changes on the PC and then test if its good for MVP

the only possibility would be if David could come up with some method of previewing what you had chosen for mvp by building a jpg on the fly, but personally I dont think its worth the bother
