per subs instructions I changed the logging level to debug and have attached the log files. The first two files are with using the overlay manager renderer while the last two (with extension 1 are with VMR9)

original post was-

I have installed PVR-350 in a P3, 1GHz, 256 RAM machine. The card is connected to TV via the TV out. The installation went smoothly. The winTV 2000 application works correctly, including recording, pause and playback of the recorded clips with winamp on the PC monitor. Next I installed GBPVR, again went smoothly. Got the OSD on the TV, works well with the Hauppauge remote. The TV guide showed correctly, the weather channel pluggin also works. However, I could not see any TV pictures nor record any. On selecting Live TV, I get a blank screen for few seconds and then the menu screen. I then changed the output to PC monitor to see if there is issue with the PVR card. When I click Live TV - i get this error message "Object reference not set to an instance of an object” . I tried using different codecs - intervideo NonCSS which came with the PVR card, Cyberlink (trial version) and showshifter (trial version). The log files are attached (I am not a programmer, so i do not know what they mean).

Any help will be greatly appreciated......
Thanks in advance

In the capture source settings, I think you've got it setup as a PVR150 instead of a PVR350.

I have reinstalled my system (change of mobo) and got the same message.
The problem was that I had defined PVR150 as capture source. I habve an PVR 350 installed.
Best regards

Thanks sub, PMF. I had indeed set PVR 150 instead of PVR 350 in the capture source. Atleast i got my system working now!!
I am going to build my PVR as follows: I have a CPU (P3, 1GHz, 256 RAM, XP) next to the TV, operated via RDC either from my iBook or my 2nd Dell PC. Ultimately, I want to operate it as a stand alone unit, launching GBPVR at boot and operated fully with the hauppauge remote. I will keep posting how things go over the next few days.
Any thoughts, comments or prior experience by members of the forum are most welcome.
Again, thanks to sub for creating such a wonderful application. Except for that lapse on my part, the installation has been smooth even for a non-IT person like me.

Here is one approach, but it is not for everyone:
http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Tips/BootIntoGBPVR
I'm not always right
GB-PVR 1.2.9
Accent HT-400 Case, AMD Athlon 64 3800+ 1024MB, 1TB+300GB+180GB, WinXP Pro-SP2, NVidia 7600GT
Nova-T USB2, PVR-350 recording from Dilog 355 DVB-T box, USB-UIRT (receiving & transmitting)

I tried the BootIntoGBPVR approach, but it changed the settings for the other administrator account too. Had to perform system restore to get back.

The autologon with GB-PVR in the startup group has worked great in my stand-alone PVR setup, and you don't have to hack the registry on XP for it to work. It just takes 10-30 seconds to get the GUI on the TV after a reboot, but I don't mind that so much. The recording service starts within the first 5 seconds on my PVR.

Sorry, just saw your post.
- My computer is stand-alone - it isn't in a domain, I left it in a Workgroup. This is the only way the AutoLogon registry hack will work.
- I made sure I was logged on with the ID I'm using for the AutoLogon
- I copied the GBPVR shortcut in the start menu to the Startup group (just right-click the GBPVR icon in the start menu and select COPY, go to the startup group, right-click and select PASTE).
- Reboot to test the AutoLogon and GB-PVR Startup.

I hope the directions are clear - let me know if you get confused or I lost you somewhere.
