is there anyway to have gbpvr change the channels for recording off a Dish Network 301 box. i can have it record something but i have to change the channel manually with the dish remote.

i saw this for direct tv http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Utili...nelControl, but there isn't one for dish network

Yes, you should be able to use an IR Blaster like the USB-UIRT for this.

Somewhere in among the old posts there was a couple of people that made there own IR Blaster, with URLs for instructions. Obviously not officially supported by me, but usable with the '.exe channel changer'.

Probably. The Hauppauge IR Blaster doesnt work with all IR devices, but if this box is common, then it'll probably work.

Your best bet would be to try a WINTV PVR 150 and the IR Blaster setup program which comes with this card.

Here are the US sat receivers Hauppauge say they can control.
http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/support/s...vr150.html

SAT 0130 DISH Network DP501

SAT 0130 DISH Network DP701

SAT 0129 DISH Network (model(s)unknown)

SAT 0131 DISH Network (model(s)unknown)

SAT 0132 DISH Network (model(s)unknown)

SAT 0133 DISH Network (model(s)unknown)

I just bought a 150 to control my Bell Express vu 2700 and 3100 receiver. The 150 does change the channels on these models and I believe they are very similar to your 301 box. I can't say it will work exactly as I don't have a 301 but it is well worth trying. You can always return the 150 if it dosen't work for you.

I had a wintv250 card and used channel changer .exe with a serial ir blaster, which worked fine on one of my machines, but I could not get it to work 100% on a second PC so I decided to get a 150 card that had the IR blaster and it works great for me.

No, but its there somewhere. I'd just have to search for it the same as you would.
