I have a Hauppage card. The resolution with this card is supposed to be 704 X 480. Just wondering why all my recordings come out at 640x480??
Is there a way to set the recording resolution?

Thanks,
Jim

The resolution is 720x480, unless you messed with the res settings in config or manually edited the registry.
If it's showing at 640x480 on your monitor or TV, then that's what you have your playback software set at.
You can never have enough tuners!

What software are you using to play back the video?
What resolution are your monitor and TV set at?
What decoder are you using in gbpvr?

Thanks!

Open the config app (under GBPVR in the stat menu)

Click on the Capture Sources tab

Select your capture source and click edit

Click Edit next to the recording source

Select the Quality Profile Setting you are using to record and hit edit

Thanks for the help guys.
I'm watching the MPG recordings in Media Player and Media Player Classic on a computer only. Never on a TV and never in the GBPVR interface. The video decoder in the config app is set to System Default, which is the only option. I have the Elecard Mpeg 2 codec installed.

I went to the tuner settings and changed the Quality from medium to high. Is that the cause of the resolution issues?

Thanks,
Jim

No, quality shouldn't affect aspect.
Have you tried setting WMP to fullscreen?
What makes you think they're only 640x480?
The card is recording at 720x480, it's your playback that's doing something.

Yes, I don't understand why it is 640X480 . I made a 6405 480 file in Photoshop and compared it to the size of the video playing in Media Player classic. They were the Same Size.
There is also something odd with the MPG files. They will not open in VirtualDub even though they play fine in all players. Not even on another PC.
Any ideas?

No this doesn't do anything. The default profile is *always* medium unless you select a different profile at the time of scheduling the recording. If you wanted a default profile of high, you would have to change the medium profile to be the same as those of the high profile.

perhaps download this small gspot util from http://www.headbands.com/gspot/

this allows you to examine the exact properties of a video file
