Hi,

I've got GBPVR up and running with a PVR-150 card, getting locals from an antenna on coax input, and Dish Network from a 301 box on S-Video. Apart from what looks to me like a lower than normal frame-rate on the display that I'll learn to live with maybe, it works great.

I'm using the Hauppauge IR Blaster to change channels on my Dish box. Is there any way to have GBPVR simply send the "channel up" and "channel down" IR signal instead of explicitly specifying the channel number? For instance, let's say I've got ESPN (ch 140) and CNN (ch 200) on my list. Pressing channel up on my remote makes GBPVR blast 2 - 0 - 0 - enter , and this slows down channel surfing to a crawl. It would be much much faster if a simple channel up/down could be done instead.

Is this possible?

Thanks!

i would think that it should be possible. i've got a Scientific Atlanta cable box and the chan +/- works. maybe you don't have the irblaster configuration set to the right code for your STB (or the "best" code as obviously you are getting some functionality...

I'm surprised yours works, did you have to do anything special?

I think it *must* be a GBPVR issue, because how would the IR Blaster know what the next channel is? (If I'm on Ch 200 and want to go to 201, there's no way that the IR Blaster knows to blast 2-0-1-ENTER to my box; GBPVR has to explicitly specify that to the blaster.

So for some reason, for you GBPVR is telling the IR Blaster to send ch +/-, but here it's just feeding channel numbers. I've tried both HaupBlast.exe and Hauppauge IR Blaster under channel changer.. i'm clueless.

yes, you make a very good point. when i close my eyes and transport myself infront of the tv, the cable box gets fed the next channel in digits rather than some generic channel up command.

according to my irremote.ini, pgup and pgdn are set to the channel up/down buttons. i have done a lot of customization but i assume this is standard. so when in live tv you should be able to press pgup and have it switch to the next channel. does this work?

one other point. i am using the ".exe Changer Plugin" in the GBPVR recording source setup, though i believe i had this set to the hauppauge ir before and it worked.

No, there is no way to do this in GB-PVR.

thanks for clearing it up sub, and good work on GBPVR!

Sorry if I'm asking too much (coming from a fellow programmer), but would you consider including this as an option in a future release?
