Hi,

I'm planning a media pc build soon, and just looking at different components - spotted the Terratec Cinergy 2400i DT is going to be available very soon in the uk - has anyone had any experience with the Terratec Cinergy cards and gbpvr?

Cheers,
Pete.

Hi Pete

Funnily enough I just got one 2nd hand off eBay from Germany. Its actually labelled TerraTec Cinergy Dual T PCIe, but uses the 2400i DT drivers ok. I've got it working but need some advice - will post more shortly.

I have a TerraTec Cinergy Dual T PCIe which appears to be the same as a Terratec Cinergy 2400i DT (http://tvuk.terratec.net/modules.php?op=...le&sid=240) and uses the same drivers.

It shows three devices in Device Manager :

Cinergy 2400i DT Bridge
Cinergy 2400i DT Capture
Cinergy 2400i DT Tuner

Creating a new entry in BDA.INI with above Capture and Tuner device names did not work. But graphedit shows four 'devices' :

Cinergy 2400i DT Tuner 1
Cinergy 2400i DT Tuner 2
Cinergy 2400i DT Capture 1
Cinergy 2400i DT Capture 2

Creating two entries in BDA.INI worked :

[TerraTec Cinergy 2400i DT #1 DVB-T]
TUNING_TYPE=DVB-T
FILTER_TUNER=Cinergy 2400i DT Tuner 1
FILTER_CAPTURE=Cinergy 2400i DT Capture 1
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport

[TerraTec Cinergy 2400i DT #2 DVB-T]
TUNING_TYPE=DVB-T
FILTER_TUNER=Cinergy 2400i DT Tuner 2
FILTER_CAPTURE=Cinergy 2400i DT Capture 2
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport

But I'm not sure if this is the correct way to go.

Also when scanning channels it does not find them all, including BBC3, BBC4 and ITV4 - I seem to remember reading there was a fine tuning option for DVB-T receivers - can anyone remind me ? Does anyone know what the jumper J1 does ?

I've only performed some quick tests so far, but apart from the missing channels I can record from both tuners simultaneously without any problems.

Just an update - I realised later that the reason it could not find BBC3, BBC4, ITV4, etc. was that they were not broadcasting at the time I did the channel scan. Now everything seems to be working ok.

Just wondering how you are finding this card with GPVR as was also looking at purchasing one. Looks like a nice product.

I've just ordered a load of kit to build my first HTPC. Did alot of shopping around for the best prices. If you're buying sometime soon, daza67, you may as well learn from my leg work...

The best deal I can find for buying a Terratec 2400i is £60.55 (inc VAT) + £6.90 P&P. I think it's shipped from Germany. http://www.hardwarearea.com/product_info...rrency=GBP

That said, I decided against the 2400i in the end and have gone for a couple of Nebula DigiTV cards instead. Bought these at http://www.pcvideo.co.uk

It was a close decision on the cards. I haven't ruled out the 2400i as a future purchase.

Hi daza67

Overall I'm very impressed with it - Its more reliable than the Pinnicle card I previously used. The GBPVR service used to crash all the time due to the mux being used, it still happens on occasion but I'm hoping to find a better mux. The only downside is that occasionally the video breaks up, but again its not a big problem.

I'm very happy with it and would certainly consider getting another one, but with 5 TV tuners I would not be able to keep up with whats being recorded !

Thanks for the opinions, I have ordered one of these direct from the Terratec site.

Delivered price converted worked out at about $180AUD very reasonable considering the price of a comparible dual dvb-t cards such as the dvico dual tuner model selling here for about $270AUD.

Just received my card today (thursday) after ordering last Friday ! Installation was a piece of cake compared to my previous Dvico dual tuner nightmare. All up and running with both tuners working in GBPVR in about 10 minutes Wink
