I installed the latest version when it came out a few weeks ago. At that time I compacted my database down to 8MB. I noticed today that my DB was 845MB!? I compacted it down to 8MB again, but what in the world is going on here? I'm not doing anything out of my norm.

Access databases are pretty painful at growing but never shrinking, even when you delete data from them. It'll try to shrink the database when you click the ok button in the config app. Its not really able to do it at any other time, since it can be a lengthy operation which locks the database, and this is the only time it can be sure there is no other database connections.

GB-PVR users have always had this problem, but its become much more apparent with the new 'complete EPG reload' option since it deletes and inserts a lot more data, particularly for those US users with large numbers of channels and many days worth of zap2it data. If you want to get it back to the old level of growth, you can disable the 'complete EPG reload' option.

If you were using Slimm GBPVR (which maintains a connection to the GB-PVR database, I have created a new beta version that allows GB-PVR to compact.

BETA v1.1.2258.32867

As always, please note that this is a beta version. Comments appreciated.

Features:
  • Releases connection to database around time of EPG update to allow GB-PVR to compact and repair the database after update completed. GB-PVR is given half-an-hour to update the EPG and compact and repair the database.
