My upgrade to 1.4.7 has been mostly smooth, but I have an issue when recording with BDA multiplexer set to: Microsoft DVR-MS mux. I have been using this mux successfully with previous GBPVR versions.

After installing 1.4.7 the scheduled recordings using the dvr-ms mux start and stop when expected, but only a 6KB dvr-ms file is created. This happens on all channels.

I can watch dvr-ms created by previous versions, watch live TV, watch DVD's and record with the TS Mux without difficulties.

I've used the dvr-ms mux because it is the only one that gives flies that I can quickly FF/Rew through while seeing frames from the file. The TS files created when using the TS Mux only display a frame after a brief pause. This makes it difficult to move through the file and know where you are in the recording.

Currently the only mux I can get to record is "TS Mux". The other mux's all exhibit similar behavior as DVR-MS mux. Mux Checker gives the following output.
GB-PVR has detected the following multiplex filters on your machine:

Found: Microsoft DVR-MS Mux

Found: PP MPEG Muxer (aka, CyberLink MPEG Muxer)
FILE: C:\WINDOWS\system32\mpgmux.ax
VERSION: 5.1.2507

Found: ATI MPEG Multiplexer
FILE: C:\Program Files\Common Files\ATI Technologies\Multimedia\atimpenc.dll
VERSION: 10.9.0.40813

Found: GB-PVR's TS Mux
I've attached my log files. I did various recording with BDA multiplexer set to:
 • DVR-MS 6KB dvr-ms file
 • TS Mux works
 • Cyberlink 0KB mpg file
 • ATI 0KB mpg file

I've searched through the forum and done my best to understand the codec and mux issues discussed. Any insight into this issue would be appreciated. Thanks.

My guess is that your broadcaster may have changed the audio/video pids of some channels. The 'TS Mux' is unaffected by this, and would still be able to record the channel. The other muxes would get a zero byte recording, or 6KB in the case of dvr-ms.

As part of the upgrade I rescanned and remapped all the channels. Should that give me correct pids or is there something else that needs to be done. Thx.

Best way to tell is check and actual example yourself. ie, look in GBPVRRecordingService.exe-native.log for the tuning request:
Quote:2009-10-20 13:40:03.750 INFO BDARecorder:::StartRecording(Silicondust HDHomeRun Tuner 10125A7F-0, 1, C:\Documents and Settings\TVMediaCenter\My Documents\My TV\Fencing_25521020_13001400.mpg, T:12,0,0~P:5~TSID:397~V:81~A:84~PMT:80~PCR:81~N:>11.3 US (000(AC3)))

Then fire up the config app, do a rescan, and compare the C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\BDA\*.cache file to check it has the same tuning request.

Here are entries for a channel before the rescan:
T:7,0,0~P:3~TSID:381~V:49~A:52~PMT:48~PCR:49~N:>7.1 KGO-HD (000)
T:7,0,0~P:3~TSID:381~V:49~A:53~PMT:48~PCR:49~N:>7.1 KGO-HD (000) #2
T:7,0,0~P:3~TSID:381~V:49~A:54~PMT:48~PCR:49~N:>7.1 KGO-HD (000(AC3))

Here are the entries for that channel after the rescan
T:7,0,0~P:3~TSID:381~V:49~A:52~PMT:48~PCR:49~N:>7.1 KGO-HD (eng)
T:7,0,0~P:3~TSID:381~V:49~A:53~PMT:48~PCR:49~N:>7.1 KGO-HD (spa)
T:7,0,0~P:3~TSID:381~V:49~A:54~PMT:48~PCR:49~N:>7.1 KGO-HD (fre(AC3))

Only difference is part of the channel name at the end of the lines.

In this example I've used the first entry in the mapping. The other entries don't play correctly in the channel mapping preview window.

Looked at tuning request in the log file you indicated

SubmitTuningRequest(T:7,0,0~P:3~TSID:381~V:49~A:52~PMT:48~PCR:49~N:>7.1 KGO-HD (eng))

Went to HDHomerun setup and did a rescan there, no change.

I've always been able to watch Live TV correctly. Wouldn't that indicate that the tuning requests are correct?

Any other suggestions of things I can look into? Thx again.

I have found a solution to this problem, although I don't know why it fixes it so I don't know if this is a general solution or points to some other issue...but I'm happy again.

I went to the HDHomerun setup program and under the application tab changed the setting from "GBPVR" to "ATSC/QAM". I then rescanned and remapped my tuners and now all works as expected with the DVR-MS mux.

I then did a test and set it back to "GBPVR" and recordings didn't work. Back to "ATSC/QAM" and it works.
