The script is hardcoded at 900kbs/sec. Upping it will give you somewhat better quality.

Search for "bitrate=900"

I could make another user defined variable if there's interest in it. When I tweaked the profiles, 900 was the sweet spot. Anything higher didn't really improve quality. Any quality issues you may see might be from the transcode to the mvp. You can also increase the output resolution but it gets tricky since you need to make sure that both variables are divisible by 16 and still keep the aspect ratio.

If you decide to test any other settings tell me how they work out.

I upped it to 2400 without seeing a big improvement. I don't think it's the transcode to the MVP, because the file looks the same when I play it on my PC. The picture's just not sharp. I'm assuming this is because of the transcode to xvid. Would switching to the Virtualdubmod script produce a higher quality file? I'd like it to be as close in quality to the original as possible.

Hi, I'd like to install this script, but I also have a folder with about 10 recordings that I need converted as well. Is there any way I can run this script on the 10 files to convert them all? Thanks

You could try increasing the resolution. What is the resolution of the TV you are watching it on?

This script is independant of GBPVR. You can run it on the GBPVR machine or another networked machine or both if you prefer. It will check the directories you specify (through DirMon) and process all files that meet your criteria.

Yes. Just add that folder to Dirmon.

The installation instructions are at the beginning of this thread. If you have any questions outside the instructions, I'd be happy to answer them.

I followed the instructions and I have comskip sitting on my desktop but how does GBPVR know where it is? DirMon won't run until after comskip runs so the whole process won't start for me.
