I searched the forums and the wiki, but didn't find anything that references the problem I'm having.

I've got GBPVR setup and working fine; it does all of my recordings and works great on my computer. My MediaMVP works fine with Hauppauge's server.

I stopped the Hauppauge services and used config to set the autostart servers to 1. The MVP connects and the GBPVR interface works fine on the MVP.

So here's the problem: I can't run anything on the PC, including GBPVR without first doing an ALT+TAB so the GBPVR MediaMVP Server window becomes visible, and close it. Whatever I run shows up in Task Manager, but doesn't become visible/useable until I close the GBPVR MediaMVP Server window. GBPVR and config both lock up at various points until I kill the MVP Server. Once I do that, they immediately pick up where they left off and work fine for a few minutes until they lock up again.

It would seem that something is conflicting with the server, but I don't have a clue what it could be. Any suggestions??

I'm using a Dell Pentium 4 3.2Ghz, 1.25G ram, running WinXP Pro.

I don't get any error messages or anything. In GBPVR, for example, it hangs when I select any of the buttons. If I kill the server, it starts working again. In config, if I hit OK, it hangs until I kill the server.

If I run Firefox or Thunderbird or Internet Explorer, nothing happens, although they show up in Task Manager. If I kill the server, they pop right up.

TurboTax and Symantec AV run, but their auto-updater functions hang at 0% until I kill the server and then they complete as normal. Seems like it may just affect programs that access the network in some way.

It might possibly be related to the fact that the MediaMVP service interacts with the desktop, and tries to open a window unnecessarily. You can prevent that by not allowing the GB-PVR Recording Service to interact with the desktop.

Open Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Services
Right click on "GB-PVR Recording Service" and select Properties
Select the Log On tab
Uncheck "Allow service to interact with desktop"
