Hi all. Just started building my own pc-pvr using this rather cool software that im dead impressed with. Must say it is real cool! Anyway.... Im using this application to record / schedule and record programs from my sky digital box using heenans controller to change channels which all works awesomely however i also use vlc to stream the tv signal so as i can watch it on my laptop anywhere in the house. The problem is that VLC and GBPVR cannot both use the capture source at the same time and hence if im streaming i cant record. Is there anyway I can force GBPVR to kill vlc before starting a recording? I added a batch file that kills it as the pre processing, but its not killed before GBPVR tries to open the capture device and hence GBPVR doesnt record, and vlc closes! Could i maybe use the external recording plugin to record from the stream, but still have the box's change channels as required?

Because I wasn't too excited about it, I didn't follow it all but if you browse around there is a long thread on using VLC to watch live Tv from gbpvr which might suit you better, that way gbpvr already has control of the source.

Sorry I can't point you that much better but a forum search should yield some info.

I gave this a try but unfortunately it was unwatchable due to constant stuttering on both video and audio. I am unsure as to why. I tried adjusting the resolution and bitrate, but it wasnt possible to make a watchable video stream in gbpvr. However if i connected the vlc to the video file created using this method it seemed to play really well. I understand that this isnt supported, so im not expecting too much help with this however if anyone can suggest a way to remotely start the recording service creating the timeshift mode livetv file so as i may connect in to this? any help would be much appreciated!

There was a much better thread that dealt with this but to achieve what you have asked for, how about using the web interface to start the recording, then in the same web interface click on the play button next to that recording. That will automatically stream to your machine if you have vlc installed and associated with .m3u file extension.

I cant believe i overlooked such a simple solution! With a small modification to the web admin i could automatically set it up to do this with minimal fuss. Then i just need to make something to automatically delete the files after viewing. Thanks
