I use DVI on my video card for watching via my Plasma. It produces a gread picture.

I've never had my MVP hooked up to it. Didnt seem to make to much sense to do more analog->digital->analog->digital conversions than required.

Plasma and LCD arent as forgiving of picture flaws as the good old CRT though...

Over the MVP and Xcard all files are played perfectly flewless.
No problems with camera moves or anything else in fact of motion.
But over vga not realy good - also my girlfriend noticed that and that is normaly nearly impossible (she´s not that critical in this)

I´d also tryed via DVI/HDMI.
Same results.
Fairly i´ve to say that a clean install gives the best results!
I don´t know why -
The same with fast forward- if i play a recorded file via gbpvr i´m not able to fast forward- i´ll lose audio.
But i can playback via WinDVD an fast forward or rewind is no problem at all!
The only Idea i´ve about that, it semms that windvd uses the video acceleration of the Geforce 6.... directly.
Playback with windvd looks a much smoother!
This is why i allways ask how gbpvr is doing the playback- it must be something in the code of windvd engine !

You are using the intervideo decoder in gbpvr?

Hi Nemulate

I´m using intervideo decoder selcted in gbpvr.
My problem is, that recorded video is not played back smoothly over
VGA or DVI. It looks a little better when played with WinDVD instead of
gbpvr. When the video is played back via MVP or xcard it is perfect!
I know that it always is a problem to watch material, that was originaly
produced in usa (film/NTSC) and than converted into pal.
But the problem is also noticeable if a text is scrolled (newsticker) like some stations do (Euronews - CNN ......)
The scrolling looks like there are little hickups during playback.
With every kind of hardware decoder i´d tryed yet, it looks brilliant.
But i do not know why. so i go on with my search for maximun quality-
thatfore i bought the dvbs card and everything else. Maybe it´s a problem
with geforce GPU´s or drivers!

Did you replace quartz.dll ? Do a search in the support forum and you will find a prcedure and a place to download a good quartz.dll. I'm no expert but it sounds to me that you are having a lot of problems that are fixed by this.

Also are you using a trial version of WinDVD? I found the decoder didn't work well until I registered the product. Just a thought!

I´m using a OEM version that was bundled with my mobo (ASUS deluxe=bundled
with WinDVD Suite)
I´d already changed quartz.dll.
But that makes the projekt that attractive - to buy a hdd-dvd recorder from a manufacturer is much easyer but we´re not going to learn anything when we´re doing so!

Plus you won't have so much 'fun' with an out of the box solution! Big Grin By the way can you get WMP to play back the recordings and report on the quality?
