X Guide Too Many Hours

Is it possibe to cut back the time span that X Guide displays say from 3 hours to 2 hours, Also I was hoping there is a was to also cut back the number of channels it displays at one time.

Open up the skin file, it will be pretty obvious what you have to do.

I don't know which skin you're using, so I'll just use Blue as the example. Go to devnz\gbpvr\skin\blue\guide2j and open skin.xml in a text editor (like Notepad). Scroll down towards the bottom and find the line

Change visibleChannels="7" to the number of channels you'd rather see (like visibleChannels="4" to see four channels) and adjust channelRowHeight="40" to maybe 60.

I don't see the time period interval as something that's easily skinnable. I think Tipstir (the resident skinning ace) has the most experience with changing the look of the TV Guide around - maybe he's got the inside track on this for you.

Yep - the editing the skin (to be precise, the skin-horiz.xml file in the guide2j directory) is the way to change the hours/channels shown etc.

As far as number of hours shown goes, it is all covered by the rather lengthy line at the start of the <SpecialElements> section starting with "SpecialElement name="Guide"..."

As it mentions at the start of that section, you can choose to draw by pixels or by minutes, so there is a bit of flexibility involved dependent on how you have the rest of the skin set up.

You should basically play around with a MinuteDraw value of 120 and change the MinutePixels value until it looks right for you. Make sure that if you move the position of the guide to also move the time position at the top etc.

I have mine set up as around 120 minutes, so if you want to copy that one, you could download the skin from the wiki page and copy whatever guide2j skin settings you need.
