Freecom DVB-T TV USB Stick

Anywho, i followed the very helpful instruction on page 2 (thanks Doughnuts for that!), and got GB-PVR to recognise my device. Then used the UK epg (bleb), which found a load of channels, but when i go on "map digital channels to epg", i get "no channels found, please check signal and configuration".

That's what I found. I installed the Yakumo drivers on a different PC and then loaded gbpvr with no problems. I don't know where the conflict is but it seems that if you load the freecom drivers, then replace with the yakumo ones, it appears to recognise the device but then nothing gets found either by the yakumo software or anything else for that matter.

What you should try is to remove all evidence of the freecom driver, then plug the stick into a different USB port and then install the yakumo drivers.

i think i uninstalled everything to do with freecom, the software is uninstalled, i went to device manager and removed the device, and also deleted the necessary .inf files in windows\inf\

anything else you can think of to uninstall?

it appears to recognise the device but then nothing gets found either by the yakumo software or anything else for that matter.

well i tried the yakumo software, and that works, infact thats what im using at the moment because gb-pvr isnt working. yakumo pucks everything up, but gb-pvr wont :S

I bought the Freecom DVB-T USB stick yesterday, and like most other people find the supplied software pretty rubbish. I tried installing the device with the Yakumo drivers, i plug the device into a usb port, then it detects it as Digital TV Reciever, i direct it to install the Yakumo drivers but close to the end of installing them it asks me to insert a cd, which happens to be the one which is supplied with the Freecom DVB-T USB Stick.

Could someone please tell me where i'm going wrong? I followed all of the steps on page 2 of this topic.

I didn't even put the Freecom CD in my machine - I just pointed it at the directory for the unzipped Yakumo drivers any time it asked for a driver location. You could always try plugging it into a different USB port and reinstall the Yakumo ones.

I tried plugging it into another USB port and also made sure all of the freecom files in the INF directory were removed, however when it asks for the location of the drivers and i point it to the Yakumo ones, it now says the hardware could not be installed because the wizard cannot find the necessary software

Have you gone into the config within gbpvr and set the capture source to be the Freecom device? Where it says recording source BDA Recording Plugin, click on the settings button and then the device type to Freecom DVB.

It's not asking for the Freecom CD, it's just asking for *any* suitable drivers, point it to the folder containing the .inf files for the yakumo drivers and continue.

Yep just double checked its set to BDA Recording Plugin and Freecom DVB, any other ideas?

I Did do, but it says there is no necessary software then keeps asking for the cd. I tried another USB port and forced the tv tuner to use the Yakuma drivers, which installed and all programs recognise it, however whenever i scan for channels the light lights green but no chanels are found :S

That's pretty much the behaviour I found on a machine that had previously had the Freecom drivers installed. Drivers load fine, green light comes on, any scan fails to find anything.

Clearly something gets left behind, I don't know what. I installed on a different machine and started with the Yakumo drivers. Works fine.

Sorry not to have a fix other than either do that or re-install your OS which is drastic and not my recommended fix but unless someone can identify *exactly* what gets left behind, your options are limited.

Does the Yakumo software also fail to find channels?
