sorr Wrote:Thanks bluesxman that worked, I've got GBPVR on my MVP for the first time in months . So what's the next step.
This indicates that the problem is certainly DHCP related. Couple of questions:
1) What is the IP address & subnet mask of you GBPVR box. Also, is it static or DHCP?
2) What is the LAN (inside) IP address & subnet mask of your router?
3) What is the address range the router is using for DHCP (or however the DHCP settings are described in the router config)?

sorr Wrote:My router is lousy at issuing IP addresses. What else can I do to dig deeper, how do I find out what address it's issued when using the GBPVR s/w, My router has a page of "active users" but never shows MVP.
What make/model is it? Some routers will only list clients that attempt to access internet resources. A client that only talks internally (like the MVP) might not be listed. To find the MVP's IP address, open a command prompt on your GBPVR box and type: "arp -a" without the quotes then press enter. In the results, look for the physical (MAC) address of your MVP and you'll see it's last known IP address. Cool

I've just installed a Software DHCP server, turned off the DHCP server in my router and bingo worked quicker that ever. Might just stick with this option.

But for your info, I have a actiontek ADSL router, it's on 192.168.0.1 (the gatway), My GBPVR Pc is static 192.168.0.3, both with subnet 255.255.255.0
The DHCP range of the router is not configurable and can only assume it starts from 192.168.0.1

I'm happy now it's working, I'll try and fix the router some day.

Thanks for all your help guys

I didnt read the whole thing BUT

the 3rd bar normally means (from what i see) it has an IP address and it happy, its then searching OR waiting for a response from a SERVER (GBPVR in your case), the 4th seems to mean found and uploading, once its here it will normally complete booting.
Many Thanks
Ashley
