I tried finding a solution to this, but nothing so far.
When I use DVD2MPEG, it maked the .mpg fine, and plays back on the PC fine. But when playing on the MVP, if it is a Wide Screen movie, it fills the screen vertically, and the sides are missing. The aspect ratio is fine, it is just zoomed in WAY too much.

Hauppauge 150 via SVideo
Comcast Digital Cable
Motorola HD Cable box channel changed via Firewire
Vista Home Premium with RDP hack
AMD Athalon 64 5000+
340gig sata, plus 80SATA+3x160IDE Drives in XP machine for storage.

Well, I had the same problem (on a number of movies), and I resorted to manually recoding the files for playing on an MVP.

I created a little tool that automates this, and I uploaded it to the forum. It also handles the widescreen / resize stuff.

Look here: http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=9...ostcount=9

It's the first release of this tool, but you could give it a whirl...

I'll check it out, thanks. BTW, I am having the problems using XDVD also.

The real kick in the pants is, it used to work fine. I don't know what changed. I can only assume it is the mvp dongle.bin.

Sometime I find that power cycling the MVP cures such problems. I don't know why, but sometimes my MVP zooms in in all videos, including recordings.

I really don't think that is it. I'll give it a show anyway though. It plays 4:3 stuff OK. (Well reasonably OK, they are zoomed a bit too)

Ton,
Your little tool works fine for me. Thanks. Anyway of integrating it with XDVD so I can watch DVDs on my MVP so I get the "total picture" in near real-time?
Regards,
Hasso
