Can someone please post the concise instructions on how to configure GB PVR to play a movie formatted in 16:9 on my 4:3 tv?

I know this has been talked about a lot, and I've search the posts but I can't find a complete set of instructions.

Are there any settings in the config GUI?

What changes need to be made in config.xml? Such as <MVPFFmpegTranscodeCmdLineNTSC>.

Thanks Miles

I think you might want to look in to Z-proces plugin, at least go through the Z-proces forum. I'm sure it was discussed there.

I have many avi files (Xvid or Dvix), that are DVD rips. I want to transcode them on the fly. The hoz and vert resolution varies greatly.

Last night I spent I lot of time with trans2mvp.bat (from drain, thanks). I couldn't get it to transcode on the fly, but I think I was able to "fix" and entire avi file by getting ffmpeg to pad the top and bottom.

What I used to do, when using the Hauppuage MVP was use Auto GK and set:
target quality percent: 100, and
force the width to be: 640

Using this the whole TV would be used.

So, my question is: can I transcode it on the fly, if not, what is the best way resize a video file?

I'm fairly sure the Z-process plugin does what you're looking for.

Thank you. Z-Process is what I wanted, and I have it working.
