Hi.

I am trying to set GBPVR up to record to a network location.

No matter what I try, I am unable to get it to accept a network location as a valid recording location. It simply doesn't record in that directory, but in stead creates a file without the mpg-extension in the program directory.

I have tried
\\Sharedservername\Sharedir
\\IP-number\Sharedir
\\IP-number\d$\fullpath
V:\Sharedir (V: mapped through explorer and working on every other aspect)

Even tried to set up a SUBST drive pointing at a local disk.

All of this I have tried directly in Config.xml's <RecordingsDirectory> position. Some of them I tried directly from the config-application as well.

None of these attempts has been successful so far.

Any ideas?

TIA

That is unrelated to your attempts of network-recording. GBPVR has done that for a while now. I think Sub said that he has/will fix that in one of the latest/soon to come versions.
I'm not always right

Hee hee - reminiscent of "640kb should be enough for everyone..." I also thought that two 400GB disks would have some mileage in them Wink

However, I have a LOT of kids-TV (Bob the Builder, Tractor Tom, Pingu...) now amounting to almost the one disk. I record Golf for family and then I generally tend to record more than I watch Rolleyes

Seriously, I would like to consolidate my storage with 2 additional 400GB disks to make a 1,2TB RAID-5 storage for all my PVR-recordings, my thousands of RAW images from my Canon 300D, and parking lot for my video editing projects. Come to think of it, 1,2TB will probably run out sooner rather than later Sad

Also in general, virtualising storage seems to me to give the best flexibility. Even if the virtual drive is on the same physical machine as GBPVR, it allows for rearranging without having to reconfigure software due to drive letter changes.

Finally, I intend later to go for a networked client like described here.

To your second remark on the speed of recording.

Will I have performance problems, stuttering etc.?

Ahh - thank's for that heads-up. I thought it defaulted to record in the program directory when it couldn't find the configured directory.

However, it only seems to happen when I point to a directory where normal recording is not working (i.e. network drive).
