The channel tcp is already registered.

b00sfuk, can you please check if the latest version exhibits the same behaviour? If so, can you try changing the port used in the configuration files, ensure nothing is blocking them, and try again.

Yeah !!!! Customizing works but with a little condition : I can't add any French specific characters eg : à é ë ê è ç ï î. Any chance to fix this ?

Not sure - can your LCD display these characters? For example if you try them in LCDSmartie?

I can display all of them directly within LCDSmartie...

Still the problem - the GB-PVR GUI will only start about 1 in 10 times, tried the new version along with a port change. Also tried with firewall, antispyware and AV disabled. I'll have a more detailed play when I get time. Attached log if it helps.
I'm happy to keep trying and I'll also try the alternative in Turkeys post earlier in this thread. I'd also rather not have to have the GUI running all the time.
Thanks for your efforts on this.

When you edit the config file and save it, if you open it again, do the correct strings with French specific characters appear? I'll take a better look at this behaviour for the next release.

If you go into GBPVR's config.exe, go to the Misc tab and change the Logging Level to "Debug". Click OK and then start GBPVR. Then, when the error occurs, open your GBPVR.exe.log file and search for "LCD". It should find lines like this:

22/02/2006 10:03:51 AM.847 VERBOSE [2] LCDSmartie Plugin: Initialising...
22/02/2006 10:03:51 AM.863 VERBOSE [2] LCDSmartie Plugin: Initialised!

Where the error is occurring the output will be different and that way I will be able to see exactly where it is going wrong.

Log attached, odd as it shows there are no errors with the above. The problem only occurs though when this plugin is installed.

Sure I can add/remove/save/read any of them. Here are two samples, a working one and one witch make the plugin not to load correctly

Interesting. The LCD plug-in is certainly loading fine without errors going by the logs. However, something is causing the recording service to malfunction. Im not using remoting so I don't see how the LCD plugin has interfered. Some searching suggests this error is caused when a remoting app does not use its own name. However, if this was the problem I would have expected to see it happen to others as well.

I have the same lines as you in my logs from here:
22/02/2006 09:46:14.171 VERBOSE [6] About to connect to remote recording service
22/02/2006 09:46:14.171 VERBOSE [6] getValue() loading new key/value into cache: /settings/RecordingServiceLocation
22/02/2006 09:46:14.171 VERBOSE [6] getValue: /settings/RecordingServiceLocation : tcp://localhost:7968/RecordingRemote
To here. However, you then have another entry directly after, which seems to get stuck in an error:
22/02/2006 09:46:14.265 VERBOSE [2] About to connect to remote recording service
22/02/2006 09:46:14.265 ERROR [2] The channel tcp is already registered.
22/02/2006 09:46:14.312 ERROR [2] at System.Runtime.Remoting.Channels.ChannelServices.RegisterChannelInternal(IChannel chnl)...

I don't have this multiple "About to connect to remote recording service" message. I only get it once. What plug-ins do you have installed? What version of GB-PVR are you running? I've got this working on 95.16. I'll keep trying to track down what may be the potential cause of this problem, but to me it looks like something else may be the culprit, being upset somehow by the presence of the LCD plugin. The LCD plugin itself is loading fine.

I will provide 0.46 alpha for you to test. It should fix any crashing that occurred in the previous version if non-ASCII characters were used. Please provide your feedback, especially if it properly displays everything on your LCD. Over here I'm getting some garbage on the display, but it may be because of the VFD's character table. I seem to have 90% of it working but the last 10% is taking some time. It seems LCDSmartie related, as the LCD plugin on GBPVR is sending the correct info, which is getting to the LCDSmartie plugin correctly, but I think is somehow not getting to LCDSmartie correctly.

Also, an extra configuration option has been added - ability to choose whether to display number of tuners recording when the recording indicator is on. Again, before installing, you will need to delete the config files to prevent any crashing when the dlls first run. (Make a backup so you can quickly copy the settings you want back.)

fooman1, I'm also having a problem with the web admin which might be TCP related so they could be connected and it could be something unique to me. I'll pend this issue until I'm sure I have a clean system and get back to you. Cheers
