DVB-T signal strength

Does anybody know what the 'Strength' field means when scanning channels?
My Nova-T gives negative numbers, my Cinergy 2400 gives positive numbers and they are all different despite all coming from the same transmitter (Sandy Heath) and often change when I rescan. ('Quality' always says 100).

I've noticed this in several Nova-T looks I've looked at in the past. I dont know why Hauppauge have used this odd range though.

The Nova-t PCI bases BDA "Strength" upon an adjusted (*) tuner RF AGC level. Range is -41000 to +3000, at I believe, intervals of +2000 including 0.

* - by adjusted, it means that the driver recalibrates the readings based upon RF AGC levels that have been "seen" during that session. So, if you were to go straight to a particular frequency, you would see a different "Strength" figure than if you went through a progressive scan through all frequencies.

PS: It is normal to see different figures from the same transmitter, because the multiplexes will differ in:
- Transmitter Power
- Height of transmitter on the mast (the higher it is, the stronger the signal if you're further away)
- Sensitivity of aerial at particular frequencies
